I'm curious about this too..
I would love to have a sequencer driven by MIDI note input that has a grid that is MIDI mappable.

Kontakt or EXS24 Libraries for Sampler?
If I have a choice, and assuming these are non-encrypted libraries, is it preferable to use a Kontakt library, or an EXS24 library?

Re: Redline monitor Ableton clone
There is also canz3d http://www.midnightwalrus.com/Canz3D/ To design in Ableton is possible, must read up on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-related_transfer_function. I am on mac and there are surprisingly limited options for crossfeed type plugins, yet these are much needed. the 112db is ok but ...

Re: Mastering
Tips for self-mastering from a mastering engineer: (these things have been said before but bear repeating...) -Easy on the compression and limiting! Squashed dynamics is the most common problem with self mastered tracks (and tracks being sent to pro-mastering). -Level match and A/B compare your chan...

Re: Please Help:Headphones for Mixing and Mastering+Monitoring ?
Whatever you buy, make sure they are open back, they will be more natural sounding. Having owned the ATH M50 (which is closed back) and the Senn HD600 (open) my vote is the Senn HD580. The 580 uses the same drivers as the 600 and is a lot cheaper. It is the best "bang for the buck" headpho...

Anybody know what he is saying in the studio? I got the subtitles but they're only for the end part.

Re: Ricardo Villalobos feature on Arte "24h Berlin"
Thanks a lot for posting this. I am a big fan of his music both musically and sonically. My favorites being Alfacocha LP and the Fabric LP. Brilliant, timeless work. A great sonic reference for those trying to make music that works in clubs. A lot of his stuff has bass so low (sub-30hz) you can't he...

Delete forum account?
How can I delete my forum account? I want to start a new accout with a new name, it's time for a change. I try my user prefs but I am unable to delete my account or even change my username there.

Dont cut them so close. Give the transients room to breathe. There is sound before the transient in most cases, which adds to the impact of the drum hit.

Re: The secret benefits of mixing in mono
One thing to consider if you are making music to be played on PA or club systems is that many of these systems are mono, or essentially mono (collapsed stereo image) due to the speaker setup/acoustics/undeterminable listener position within that space. So mixing in mono can help your music translate...

Re: [ot] Gainclone?
Unless you are going to recap and refurbish the 303 yourself, probably not worth having someone else fix it as it will cost more than it is worth. I would sell it as is. Gainclones can be good but there is nothing special about them; they are chip based with minimal signal path. Gainclones are DIY s...
