I finally got live to open. it turned out to be caused by a setting in Stuffit Expanders preferences that set permissions, for any version of live, when it was expanding five after i downloaded it, that wouldn't allow it to open. I trashed Stuffit and its preferences and reinstalled Live and ...

I have been having a similar problem, except, I can't even open previous versions of Live and it won't open once on a new user account. I've been in contact with support but they seam to be shooting in the dark.
