Re: Live 10 upgrade path

I'm really bent about this last update. First off, they dock the most loyal buyers, the suite buyers, an extra $100 dollars for what, exactly? A synth? That isn't any better than anyone else's synth, in fact, a good deal worse. That should've just been a loyalty bonus. WOW, max is folded in! B F D! ...

Re: whats the best sample editor to get?

Since I posted this, I became more familiar with Simpler, which I can use to dump a sample into, and sort of set in points on the fly, and that works to a large extent for a 'Live' performance, and I don't have to cut any samples whatsoever. I freely admit I don't know everything there is to know ab...

Re: Convert to midi drums / Midi Velocities

Thanks for this tip, but I'm using the convert to midi on entire songs. I actually haven't done much transient placing, so if you could elaborate more in depth, or send me a good overview, that would be great. I'm really appallled by how the midi control is in Ableton. There are giant gaps in the fu...

Convert to midi drums / Midi Velocities

Greetings, I'm using the convert to MIDI for drums feature, still in Ableton 9, and what I'm getting out: A. does not seem accurate in terms of velocities, though it IS mostly accurate in terms of hits/notes. B. When I view the velocities, they don't come out separated, which to me, seems like a com...

Lack of a real mute button per tracks

OK, I've had enough of deleting my track on/off automation or creating a new track, when, for instance, I want all the vocals already done muted. Someone explain to me how I mute ten tracks of vocals without losing the on/off automation. I guess I just figured it out. Group all those tracks, and TUR...

Re: Volume Faders midi mapping poorly

I spoke too soon. I changed some settings in the midi preferences, now everything is cc, and the faders work, but not the knobs. How do I select cc or notes? Thanks.

Re: Volume Faders midi mapping poorly

I tried this, and I found where to change the parameters from infinity to -60, but it's just jumping between the bounds, nothing gradual. Makes everything useless. Faders are mapping fine in Traktor. Blast you, ableton! I mean, cmon, custom controller. I guess I need to check if something is missing...

Volume Faders midi mapping poorly

I've got an Electrix Tweaker and when I try to map the A and B faders, the volume goes from 0 to max with no gradual change in between. Is the controller defective? Everything else seems to map more or less correctly. While I'm here, is it possible to map the same buttons to the same functions on di...

Re: Midi Workflow

I know I can zoom in, but I want bigger buttons to start with. I am constantly having to zoom in and out, and scroll right and left. The b key to go between draw move, and delete, extend etc is really inefficient. I want a plug-in like a midi step sequencer, which exists in reason, logic. Ableton is...

Midi Workflow

I like Ableton generally, but I cannot stand editing midi in it. Every other DAW and application does not have this blank microscopic piano roll that makes it near impossible to do anything quickly. Are there any max or third party plugins that turn the piano roll into something that allows click on...

Re: Dither Options

Having taken 5-10 years to get even a decent handle on mixing, I have to agree that dither is probably the least of ones worries, meaning the rest of production is likely of far more concern. Thanks for the tips here, however.

Re: Operator Envelope Question

I'm glad you figured it out, because I sure did not. Seems like longer than 20 sec on the attack in a no brainer. I recorded 16 bars of operator, and cannot do a straight-line rise over the time. Tried automating initial peak, sustain, and they don't take a diagonal line anyway. It's all square auto...

Re: scroll wheel zoom in arranger

when your software is less capable than the stodgy old money-brubbing Adobe (scroll wheel standard in all production software, Pshop to AE to Premiere), then you know you are officially uncool. Seriously, this will affect whether I upgrade. Honestly, I dont need to be able to him a tune and have it ...
