Hi,
I'm writing an article about artists that program their own customized live performance or production environments in things like Max, Reaktor, Processing, PD or from their own application - people like tim exile and autechre. Anyone else you would recommend checking out?

Re: Who are the new freaks?
I'm glad you have caught my meaning of 'freaks'. A few I've been listening to include
venetian snares - hello? freak alert
otto von shirach - mega freak alert
but venetian is just a more steroid version of squarepusher. i guess nobody has made the kind of impact as sp or afx lately.

Who are the new freaks?
When I was a kid it was aphex and squarepusher. But now I'm old and not so into it anymore. So who's got the crazy programming chops these days daddy-o? Who are the hip kids?

Blog or Website for showcasing work?
Which format do you think is better for artists showcasing their work? I only have updates like once every 1-2 months so I'm not constantly 'blogging'. I am also adequately skilled in graphic design, CSS and HTML so creating a customized blog or website from scratch is not a problem. I like the abil...

Re: Best Video Export Format for DVD?
Thanks for the responses. I have QT Pro and all of its available codecs. h264 is looking really good. On my (amateur) level, I cannot see any serious quality compromises with the h.264 compression. The thing is that I still need to put it in iDVD and it will make a MPEG 2 out of it, correct? So is t...

Best Video Export Format for DVD?
I have an HD video that I've edited in Live. The video is beautiful in Live but every export format I try is significantly lossy. I don't see the 'current settings' option for QuickTime when I choose that option. Any video codec experts out there who can recommend some decent settings for building a...

Move sample selector while sustaining a note?
Is this possible? Like I have 50 percussion samples loaded into sampler and each one is on its own sample select zone. I can get it to change with each key press, but can i do it for a sustaining note? Or is this not possible?

MAX/MSP How proficient are you? How will you use MFL?
While there are already numerous MAX patches freely available, oftentimes they are not built optimally - so you never know what you might get. It would be nice to know what kind of users we can expect to get patches from and who will take part in this "extend".

help me pick a controller that does this
I need one that does this: 1) enables me to look at Live as little as possible 2) Will tell me if an effect is on/off and what position it's at 3) Will tell me which clip(s) are playing 4) Allows me to send effects and make level adjustments 5) Looks cool 6) ideally has some sort of text or track re...
