Re: In praise of the .alp format

Wow, that's a huge difference. I'm sure it wouldn't compress as well but 7zip is a nice alternative.

ReWire / Switch to another DAW

Those of you that have added another daw to rewire Live into, did you end up working that combo or did you end up ditching Live after a while? If you did completely switch from Live what made you switch?

Re: Sound issues when using a second display

Windows -> System -> Power & Sleep -> Additional Power Settings -> High Performance

Switch back to balanced when you're done with your sesh.

Edit: Get Power Plan Switcher from the Windows store, it adds a power plan icon in the taskbar making it easier to switch.

Re: CPU usage and 96khz

I don't know about 64 samples but I can run 40-60 hot channels at 24/96 with plenty of 3rd party plugins on a 6700 at 1024 with no freeze. I don't do much tracking though I imagine it wouldn't be too great based on experience. That being said I'd use something else for tracking in the case of a larg...

Re: Live 10 Stability

So standard, stable, update cycle then. A year or two before things settle down. yeah, 9 got progressively more stable for me. Any version <=9.2 was abominable on my system and while 9.5 fixed most of my issues, 9.6.something was the one where it all worked. So, a long road ahead. It still took me ...

What is your channel count as well as 3rd party instruments and plugins?

Re: External drives for sample packs and backup

200gb-240gb ssds are around $80 in the US. Add a usb-to-sata adapter for around $20 and you're not spending $300+.
Nowadays if you don't go ssd you're only cheating yourself. HDDs have their place but they're not very helpful in this context.

Re: Collect all and Save? just to clarify..

"Collect all and save" copies any samples/libraries/etc. not in the project folder into the project folder. You should use that option constantly in order to not have fuck-ups in the future.
