Re: Automation Timing Accuracy
Draw in the automation. This is what I do and it avoids these issues. No... this issue is for drawn automation. You may have not noticed this issue if you work with low buffer sizes or plugins that don't have much latency. Recorded automation is correct only in that what is heard during recording i...

Re: How to create a U2-like guitar-effect called Shimmer ?
Fantastic link. Thanks so much. So should I be getting a constant feedback loop or is it supposed to be decaying after a bit. Seems fairly playable the way it's decaying, I'm just running a guitar snippet into it. Interested in the 2nd post where he talks about Eno playing a DX7 into it. When I've ...

Re: How to create a U2-like guitar-effect called Shimmer ?
Sean Costello (developer behind Audio Damage's EOS reverb algorithms) recently posted a really thorough and interesting series on this effect: http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com/2010/05/11/enolanois-shimmer-sound-how-it-is-made/ Check out the posts before and after as well. AFAIK the closest you can g...

Re: metro out of sync?
I think the issue is that the sync info Max is given isn't delay compensated correctly... if there are effects before the M4L device that create latency, then M4L's sync will be off (e.g with phasor~ @frequency 0 1 0 bars.beats.units @lock 1). I hope this is fixed in Live 9...

Automation Timing Accuracy
Something that has bothered me for a while is the accuracy of automation timing in Live. Certain uses of automation (e.g turning a band-pass filter on and off for a breakdown) depend on having accurate timing. A filter getting turned on 40ms before or after a breakdown can be very audible. Accurate ...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
It measures single core performance, but on a machine with a bunch of cores that number doesn't mean very much. You might get a reading like 40% but then double the number of tracks and get almost the same number. A much more valuable version of this test would tell folks to keep increasing the num...

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Roughly in order of importance: 1- Add delay compensated automation . Pretty essential as far as I'm concerned. 2- Add tension curves to automation, numerical value entry for breakpoints, snap to grid for breakpoints. 3- The ability to freeze a single clip and it's plugins (including MIDI clips), ve...

Re: Reverb Quality
EIther with Eco, Mid or Hi the result isn't of good quality (unless if want an efx that actually sounds like a distorted reverb) Any advices on a good quality reverb plugin? As good as Logic's? Check out the new Lexicon PCM Native Reverb plugins. Expensive, but for me it's the go to algorithmic rev...

Re: 8.1.3???
I've been confused since reading Gerhard's original quality statement about what issues in particular were being going to be addressed. Live is a large piece of software and surely there were specific problem areas... My experience has been that Live 8.1.1 is solid on OS X - and I use a ton of AUs f...

Re: bezier curves in max?
could this be possible? Like an advanced automation editing feature in max? If so, who´s gonna do it? ;) I wrote a very simple M4L patch that will curve automation data applied to a M4L knob and apply it to any parameter. The tension of the curve is controlled via another (automatable) knob. I coul...

Arrange View Clips
I don't see evidence of information on clips in the arrange view being accessible (things like start time, duration, a list of the clips in a track, etc). I'd like to be able to write things like a granular processor (ie split a single clip into hundreds of little <100ms segments), auto-glitchizer, ...

I've been clicking through from within Live 8.1. Perhaps this is a Snow Leopard issue?pukunui wrote:Make sure that Max for Live is showing up as an authorized instrument, and if not that you are clicking through to Ableton's site from inside the beta version of Live 8.1 to get your license updated.

Same here. Is everyone that is having this problem running without having Max authorized? I'm running Max in demo mode...chrisedmo wrote:yeah i've tried doing it directly from L8.1 and tried it online separately with L8.1 open in the bg.. strange?

Re: err.. how do i get m4l to show up/work?
Yeah I'm having the same problem– it's authorizing everything but MFL (despite "Max For Live (Beta)" being listed under "Live 8 (Beta)"). Perhaps this is because I participated in the original Live 8 beta as well?

Re: Live 8 and Apogee Duet
What latency do you get at 100 samples (for in/ out / both)? Depends on the sample rate- latency in samples / sample rate = latency in seconds. So for 44100, that would be 2.26ms. I have the Duet and I love it. The Maestro software it comes with for managing levels, etc. is better than anything els...
