path to control_surfaces issue in Live 9.6 / SOLVED..ish

Stand easy everyone! Weirdly, I fired up Live 9.2.1 in the meantime, (not with the same project). The core library got a rescan as a result. I then lost interest, fired up 9.6 again, and hey presto, no more errors! How weird is that? So, if anyone else is struggling with control_surfaces paths, wigg...

Re: Deviceparameter: No Info about enums and booleans?

Ok, got it. Just to be complete here: str_for_value is a function of the live.object. You have to send a message like "call str_for_value 3" to live.object if it is assigned to a deviceParameter and then you will get the name for that specific value. Yes, indeed, I forgot to mention , it is a funct...

Re: Deviceparameter: No Info about enums and booleans?

I think 'str_for_value' might be what you are looking for.
I know it's not listed in the LOM, but it exists, and works.
Hope this helps!

Re: Let's get some unrestricted midi in and out of m4l devices!

Hi Leighhunt. Any plan on porting these objects to 64 bit? Cheers Jul Hi there - I've been away a while. I might get on to making a 64bit version, but I doubt it will happen before the year's end. I'm not using Live much these days. Also, the last version netted me a sum total of £50 in donations f...

Re: More Python questioning...

Hi James, Hey , thanks for your confirmation... it's a bit of a pain, because I wanted to be able to do something with persistent ids without necessitating the use of M4L (for other users). I'm going to have a look at building a structure that watches changes and builds a set of persistent ids.... I...

More Python questioning...

Hi all, I'm hanging out a thought on a limb here.... When I get an object from the LOM, I can pass its 'ID' and 'value' out of a live.observer, as a list. When I try to pass the 'ID' via OSC (from within the Python script), I cannot get this magical 'ID'. To try and explain better; tc = self.song()....

Re: Python / M4L Observe Element ?

Leigh, drop me some mail and I'll sort you out. I can't look at this extensively right now, but generally you have the right idea. There's some voodoo involved in order to get MxDCore to recognize the NotifyingControlElement's _value_notifications as a valid observable property. I'll have to look a...

Python / M4L Observe Element ?

Hi all, Ducking and diving in Python atm..... If anyone with some deeper knowledge than me could take a look at this script: Currently I can get the value of the ButtonElement, the required function is to observe changes to it also; #qManager.py import Live import time from _Framework.ControlSurface...

lhmidiin/out changes

Hi there, Just to let anyone who needs to know know, my lh_midiin/lh_midiout externals are now available from here http://collapsingsound.net/downloads.html ... no thanks to mobile me shutting down! You'll notice there is an update to these externals, namely that an anomaly when using multiple contr...

+1 I bought M4L mainly for this purpose only to find it did not work. :( edit: this is not so hard so I'll wait to see this in next version! Hi there, Are you on mac or windows? If mac then you can use my externals to input and output sysex. http://web.mac.com/leighhunt/iWeb/Site/downloads.html Reg...

Re: Live should represent VST plugin values correctly

Unless I am mistaken - the ball is out of Ableton's court on this, unless they build a lookup table or function for every single parameter value/range that exists in all VSTs that don't report true parameter values. The problem lies therein - not all VSTs report 'actual' parameter values, and, as mu...

Nice work! A windows equivalent of lh_midi could perhaps be useful. http://web.mac.com/leighhunt/iWeb/Site/downloads.html As for sharing your work: http://www.maxobjects.com/ and http://cycling74.com/?post_type=toolbox The lack of a windows MIDI external is the only thing standing in the way of an ...

Re: How to set up lh_midiinout

Hi, Leigh, the Tiger version seems to work perfect. I was just surprised to not find anything in the menu that would relate to the built-in midi system (whatever this may mean), but I have tested with an external controller, and also with my runtime patch that transforms hi messages into midi. With...
