Make a mappable delete button!
I know, real musicians don't make mistakes. But I DO! And its long overdue to be able to have a delete button mapped to a midi control. Just map the exact same function that the delete key on the keyboard has. For the growing number of Live users that are guitar player converts, we use Looper, and c...

What about that DRAG function?
It would be cool to have Looper's drag function be a midi assignable button that put the newly recorded loop automagically into a clip slot- either one in the looper track, or in one that we assign. THEN, have subsequent loops added to the stack below. Loops to clips! Automagically!

Re: An alternate way to live looping?
Juan's on it. The session view clip recording is the way to do it. Normally, you'd set up the quantization to say 2 bars, and arm the track. When you want to record into a clip in that track, you click the dot on that clip, and you'll start recording on the start of the next measure. Sometime during...

Tabs like Excel
I'll ask again, since I sense that Abe's are now deep in design phase of the next version. Excel uses tabbed displays to allow users access to multiple spreadsheets from one display. The sheets are each on a tab, and tabs are displayed at the bottom of the display, so when you want to switch between...

Blank set INSTEAD of template?
I have a template that I use often that has a bunch of rewire setup with Reason. But sometimes I just need to play with Live only and start from pure scratch. In the back of my brain there is a nattering nabob that says Live has some secret way to load a blank new set, with no presets, no nothing. A...

Ditto on the Asus sabertooth p67
I just got a new computer with a Asus sabertooth p67 with an 3.4 ghz i7 2600. So far its been very stable, runs cool and is very overclockable. I have 8gb on it. I got it from CPU solutions.com after hunting around. I ended up just buying the entire rig from them. It was only a little more than the ...

Keystation, Reason and Live- can I remote midi both?
I use an M Audio Keystation Pro 88 with Ableton Live 8 and Reason rewired. I have it set up in Live so that most of the controls are midi assigned to Live controls. But I'd like to also assign some knobs to Reason, so I can control filter, resonance, etc, in rewired Reason devices. Is anybody doing ...

Re: How do I transfer Live 8 to a new machine?
Thanks, TD. I spent a few minutes disagreeing. Its the principle of the thing. Can't I move to a new machine without loosing all my stuff, bla bla bla. But since I know that a new hard drive is only $60 or so, its totally NOT worth spending hours jacking around with it. I think I even have another h...

Re: Record Audio and Loop
You can sure do it with Looper, but regular clip slots will do it too. Just takes a bit of practice. Set the quantization dropdown to 2 bars. Arm the track (I assume you know how to record into a clipslot) and hit the clipslot to start recording, and then HIT THE SAME CLIPSLOT BUTTON during that two...

How do I transfer Live 8 to a new machine?
Yep, I'm gloating. I got a nice new computer with Windows 7/64. I want to transfer my Live Suite 8.2 to the new machine, and then turn off authorization on my old machine. Of course, I'd like to do this without loosing my presets, my custom stuff, my paks, etc. So how DO you do a clean move? A follo...

Re: I7 Hexcore 970 or SandyBridge 2600K?
Khazul, lemme be sure I get this right. Second generation means Sandybridge, right? If that true, what you're saying seems to confirm what I've been reading- that the floating point performance on Sandy Bridge is very good, and that its safely overclockable. Prices seem pretty good on SandyBridge qu...

I7 Hexcore 970 or SandyBridge 2600K?
I finally get to upgrade my home studio DAW, and I'm not sure what works best with Live. I rewire to Reason alot, but Live Suite is my main DAW. I decided on a 970 Hexcore with 6gb, with a water cooler for the CPU and six gb memory. I'd like to get three years out of it... But then I started reading...
