Re: Korg NanoPAD worth it?
agreed that the LPD8 is preferable. for me 8 pads is more intuitive than 10 for working with the drum rack interface, plus the knobs perfectly match the arrangement of live's macro knobs. slap a nice live remote script on it and you have auto-mapped knobs and pads for any drumrack you want to ...

Re: Ableton 7 / Logic 9 Workflow Help
i use both, but increasingly stick with ableton.
for precomposed, sound-collage type work, i still use logic - as a timeline-based arranger it's still much more sophisticated and precise than live. also the built-in effects are just amazing (in general the logic versions of built-in effects trump ...

Spotlight Integration and quick bin access (Mac OS X)
Perhaps this is an old battle here on the boards, but I consider one of Live's greatest weaknesses to be its horribly slow and simplistic search functionality. I have a large sample library and an even larger music library and navigating them manually in Live's browser is a pain. Using search is ...

Re: Live 8 and Logic Pro 8
logic is my favorite traditional DAW, and i find it very complementary to ableton, and use them for different tasks. they have different strengths and between the two of them you can cover most of your bases.
live does many of the things logic does quite well, and then some, so for most go-to tasks ...

Re: MIDI-mapping Device Selection?
thanks but that's not really what i'm talking about.
the APC40 actually lets you move left and right through the various devices on a given track, so that between the track select buttons and the device select buttons, you can make any device in the set the object of focus for use with the device ...

MIDI-mapping Device Selection?
i'm wondering how to assign MIDI commands to cycle through the devices on a selected track, so that i can select them for MIDI control without using the mouse. i know the APC does this, but i was told by an ableton rep at a demo that this is a new generally assignable control now (along the lines of ...
