Are you using any VSTs or external effects? I had a similar issue where it kept crashing until I reinstalled a certain VST. Usually Live will automatically attempt to recover the session when you re-open it after a crash.

I've had a similar problem. In my case Ableton will freeze indefinitely on the "starting new live session" message after I start the program so it never fully opens, then will immediately finish opening if I unplug the MPK49. If I plug the MPK back in after Ableton is open, I get a "u...
