Re: Who's going to pay for the drive Ableton is setting on fire?
I agree with H2Only. If indexing files causes such a spike in drive temps as to actually make it a fire or even a fail hazard, that's a problem to take up with either the drive or enclosure maker. I don't doubt that the temps do go up when in use, that's generally what happens when electronics compo...

[fixed] Fine tempo MIDI mapping
Tested on OSX 64-bit. This works as expected on APC40 in 9..0.2b1. Thanks for fixing this!

Re: lemur vs. push
You may not need Push, or many of the other hardware controllers on the market. Use and enjoy Lemur, and if you want to step things up into more dedicated hardware with velocity sensitive buttons, consider push (or one of the other solutions out there). Push appears to be a fantastic solution (with ...

Re: Should I sell my Mac Pro, iPad & iPhone for a MBP?
Do what works best for you. For what it's worth, the top end 15 inch MBP's performance is on par with top end single CPU Mac Pros from a year or two back, and actually have a better GPU (in the build-to-order options, if you're going big), if your more elaborate Live sets aren't coming close to taxi...

It's probably worth pointing out that the HK setup probably has a subwoofer.

Re: Apple forgets about musicians
If there's any catching up to be done, it may be with the device manufacturers. FW had an early advantage years ago, but that's long been lost. The death knell came as the video industry abandoned FW. The new Apple boxes have USB 3.0 (much faster than FW800, and backwards compatible with USB 2.0), a...

Re: Push means APC40 is redundant right?
I don't think Push makes the APC40 redundant at all. The APC40 is a great performance controller, a fantastic tool for the money. From what I've seen, Push seems to be a more elaborate (as well as expensive) tool geared more towards production. Sure, you could use it for DJing, but with all those pr...

Re: APC UNITS WITH LIVE 8&9
"wasn't exactly a legal version" Solution is simple - don't steal software. The APC 20 and 40 both work with Live 8 standard and suite. I've had an APC40 since it launched and never had a problem getting it to work with the current versions of Live (I only had Standard for a long time, but...

Re: Will more RAM help?
I suspect that what you need most is processing power available to live. More memory could help, though it depends on a few factors. As of this writing, the current version of Live is a 32-bit application, and can't use more than 4GB. Assuming you're on a recent version of OSX, the OS can use more R...

Re: Thunderbolt soundcards
Yes, the potential is definitely there for sound cards. It remains to be seen how long it will take for the products to come to market, though. As with firewire and USB, I expect that the first devices to market will be hard drives, which would also be a great benefit to anyone trying to manage audi...

Re: Snow Leopard: Who has upgraded, how did it go - recommended?
I've been running it for quite some time, currently running 10.6.4 on both my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. No problems with Live or any other app. Using a 3rd party utility to set it to default in 64-bit kernal mode, having no problems with drivers or compatibility with any of my apps.

Re: Help ! Kinda lost with plugins - mac user
Most of the good plugins (the ones you'd actually want to use) cost money. Probably even less money than it would cost you to upgrade from LE to the full version (or the suite for that matter). My tip, though, would be to read through some of the threads on the board. Particularly the easy-to-find s...
