Re: Punch in Effects with a single dummy clip! (FINALLY)

Watched this video today, which discusses creating a MIDI signal path to create punch-in effects. Definitely worth a watch

Re: How to turn VSTs devices on/off with automation....??

You might also consider putting a wet/dry FX blend. You could create a new Audio Effect Rack, one chain with the clean channel, the other with the FX. Use your automation to modulate the chain selector.

Re: This... Forum... Is.. dead.

Long time Ableton forum lurker here. Gotta say that I've been enjoying some other discussions happening on reddit. To me, part of the problem is the antiquity of the circa-2003 phpBB forum. I feel like there are often good nuggets of information available here, but buried deep within 10 pages of for...

you need to make a midi effect rack with all the arpeggiators, and put that in front of your instrument.
FTW. Nice to see problems solved in one page of discussions!

Re: Portland, OR user's group?

Anonymous PDX Ableton lurker here. Guess it's time to come out of the woodwork. Happy to see some discussion about this - thanks for taking the initiative to get this rolling again. Looking forward to meeting up with fellow Ableton nerds.

Thanks for sharing. Sets a good tone for industrial music - has a sort of steaming, organic and dark quality to it.

Re: Event Horizon

Thanks for sharing this. Midway through the song, when the FM7/harpsichord sound and slow vibrato pad are working together, it's vaguely reminiscent of Jan Hammer-style stuff (with much less reverb), and of course Kraftwerk. Nice sounds. The track's distinct "sections" seem to go on a bit...

Re: I'm looking for some constructive criticism

I try to hop into this section of the forum often just to see what other people are doing, give some feedback. I have to admit, your tracks are the first time that I've ever thought "alright, these tracks are actually pretty good!". Compared to other folks who are posting stuff on here, I'...

Re: Could this track make a release on a label? Please reply!

Thanks for posting the final mix, it's helpful to see how other musicians progress and evolve their tracks. The "original mix" is definitely sounding better, I liked the changes you made to the dynamics of the whole track. Feels much more progressive. That being said, I was still not fond ...

Re: got inspired by the fills and transitions thread...

My two cents.... I think you need to work on the drum sounds a little bit more, they were mostly what caught my ear listening to the track. They felt very mechanical and that seemed to not match the sort of funky feel with the rest of the track. I might suggest playing with the velocity of both the ...

Re: Question regarding effect preset automation

This seems like a perfect application for MIDI ghost clips. If you search the forum I think you'll find plenty of examples of how to use those. Here's how I see that applying to your problem: * Each song has it's own scene. Each scene has a MIDI ghost clip. * Each of these MIDI ghost clips have diff...

Re: APC40 question about operating devices on send channels.

I usually map a keyboard "key" or a button directly to the title bar of the Rack I want my device control knobs to take over. Is this like a shortcut for the APC40 to jump to the rack? How do you set that up? Basically you have track select for 1-8 and Master, but you're right, no quick w...
