San Francisco livePA evening, Sept 30th

Greetings! I put on a monthly evening at a small cozy club called Shine, 1337 Mission, in SF. Normally it's the 4th Wednesday of the month, this month it's on the 5th Wed, September 30th. I'll be playing a livePA set, and Nonagon will be doing his livePA as well. To fill in time, I've got some great ...

Re: SP-606 for sale, $340 obo

You mean features/etc? I can't do youtube at work here, but there is stuff up there showing people using it. Use it to control Ableton, as a sampler, midi and sound interface, and decent effects that won't tax your cpu- including the d-beam controller (which can also control anything in Ableton you ...

Live PA by Al Kal in San Francisco, May 27th 2009

Hey Guys- I'll be playing next Wednesday night, May 27th, @ Shine, 1337 Mission St., San Francisco CA. I'm playing from 11-12, all original down- to mid-tempo stuff, looping synth bass, other keyboards (Reaktor, Reason), and melodica. The rest of the evening will be chill tunes from the Ambisonic ...

Re: OS X 10.4 vs 10.5 with v.8?

Thanks for the info... hmmmmm, still not sure. I may just update to 10.5 and see how it goes. If I do, I'll run a performance test for both and post. -Alex

OS X 10.4 vs 10.5 with v.8?

Hey guys- I've got OS X 10.4.11, started up Live v.8 a couple days ago, and have since seen lots of crashes and poor performance overall. Anyone compared performance of v.8 on OS X 10.4 vs. 10.5 and seen better results? Thinking of updating to 10.5 (I have an iMac 2.16G 1.5 G of RAM) Thanks in ...

not sure where this came from (anyone know?), and I agree that you shouldn't overdo it, but the following has been helpful as a guide for mastering...

Al Kal Live PA, mid-tempo to not-so-mid

Hey folks, here's a snippet of a set that I've been working on. I'll be incorporating some of it into an upcoming show with Rithma and Nica Brooke at the Soundwave Festival on Vancouver Island, BC, CAN. Working on removing some of the cheese, but not all of course. Cheers!

update on corrupt .aif file recorded by Live

So after much research about what .aif files are made of (chunks, headers, etc.), I was going to try to paste in some code from parts of healthy .aif files. However, my buddy pointed me to a free 2-track editing program called Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net, open source, mac and intel mac ...

BCF fader feedback quirk

Thanks for your response, Longjohns.

I'm actually using the default Behringer mode- no emulation mode. I'm just programming custom presets on the BCF to correspond with things I want to control live (i.e. preset 1 is tracks 1-5 and a 'master fader' section, preset 2 is tracks 6-10 and a 'master ...

Offline samples crash Live 6.0.1 and 6.0.3

When loading up a set (from Live 5, but 'saved as' a Live 6 project/file) and samples are missing, I use the new 'Missing Files' menu, set the folder, and go. Live locates the files, puts up a dialog box "60 files were found, 59 files replaced' or something like that, I hit 'ok', and the program ...

power cut while recording...

Hey Y'all.... just recorded a whole set and was continuing on recording the next guy's set, and someone pulled the plug (i have an iMac). I see a 1.96 gig file that must be it, but no program, including live, can read it. Any tips? Thanks in advance! -Alex
