Re: Ableton Push 3 update
I would die for an "Ableton Push Go": a battery-powered standalone Push that runs a touchscreen-friendly version of Ableton. Not unlike the MPC Live actually. Speaking of a touchscreen-friendly version of Ableton, where is it anyway? With all the developments in hardware, running Ableton o...

Re: Reason 9.5 announces VST support
Had one of my most fun times making music definitely in Reason back in the early 2000's. Going loop bonanza with Dr Rex was amazing! Also loved Redrum, but wasn't too hot for Reason's effects, which were pretty much run-of-the-mill back then. Also wasn't too keen on the wiring interface. Eventually ...

Re: How to make that Patrick Cowley sound
Get analog synths :!: Then you can come as close as this Dutch clone of Cowley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2gwWqW3YJU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3hqP4sZ5_s Thanks but I'm not planning on spending lots of money on an original Prophet 5. I still have good hopes that a proper software emulat...

Re: How to make that Patrick Cowley sound
Of course I know this won't be easy, especially as said above, it takes more then just the right synth patch. Would be great though though being able to get this great Patrick Cowley sound back to life :-) was it ever dead? seems to be still all around the one way or the other Although he has alway...

Re: How to make that Patrick Cowley sound
I'm not sure btw way which is the better Prophet 5 emulator, Aruria Prophet V or NI Pro-53. The jury seems to not be out on this one, as I hear conflicting opinions: Arturia almost seeming to be too clear & sharp while Pro-53 supposedly sounding phatter but also more muddy

Re: How to make that Patrick Cowley sound
Thanks for the response so far. What I actually want to do is to make a proper remix/re-edit of this very rare but very massive Patrick Cowley take on Tantra - The hills of Katmandu: http://soundcloud.com/rolfski/tantra-the-hills-of-katmandu-patrick-cowley-rare-re-edit. They idea is to recreate some...

How to make that Patrick Cowley sound
I want to recreate the Patrick Cowley synths of the early 80's. Here's a famous example for those who don't know what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQB2F0zv0zo&feature=related What I know is that Patrick created all his sounds with a Prophet 5 synthesizer and a drum machine. One of the ...

Re: What makes ableton better than other software.
and rearranging and looping are 2nd to none. I beg to differ on the looping aspect. In Traktor you can punch in a loop point wherever you want to on the fly as well as change it's length quickly down to something like 1/32 note and also set loop points to jump to on the fly. With Live that's all a ...

Re: Ableton for music production. PC vs Mac
The reality is that I can get a low end PC laptop with the same level hardware, using the same interface to perform as well as a Macbook Pro according to the Live performance test, at a third to a half less in price. However, i recognise that the tuning process might be unbearable to the non techy ...

This other chill track from him I like actually more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYu5vf1HZKU&feature=related It's actually so inspiring that it motivated others to make video clip to match with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHD9MMWcF_8&feature=PlayList&p=86CCBED36E72A311&pla...
