Re: Zenpad-Oriental Pack

I just took a chance and sprung for the new Zenpad-Oriental pack. I was very pleasantly surprised; the Middle Eastern rhythms do not have as much variation as I would have liked (but are still quite acceptable) but the instrumental clips are very impressive; lots of feeling - the humanity of the mu...

Re: Film Score - Performed on Ableton Push

Thanks. And no, that was good 'ol fake stage blood from a costume shop. Though I think we did mix it with something, can't remember (my girlfriend was in charge of the blood, I'll have to ask her...)

Film Score - Performed on Ableton Push

I wanted to see if I can get a somewhat believable film-score[ish] tune using only Ableton Push and the included libraries in Live 9 suite; here are my results -

First test using Olympus Elements pack

I was trying to find examples of users using the new(ish) Olympus Elements pack (other than the examples posted by Ableton/Soundiron) but couldn't find any, so I went ahead and bought it anyway and made this first, quick test song - https://soundcloud.com/genshi/dark-choir-test Comments welcomed. Re: Ableton Guitarists

Nice thread going here. I've actually been away from guitar for awhile and am just now getting back into it. This is a mellow little track I did today (still a work-in-progress); I was sort of going for a Boards Of Canada feel, but with mostly guitars: http://soundcloud.com/genshi/shouchu-preview-01...

Re: Chopping audio

Hiya, cheers for that. When you click the tab button in the video it looks like the audio has gone to the arrange view, but mine doesnt do that, I have to drag it to the arrange view tab on the top right of the screen. then I can do what you say ie click the track to highlight it, but to get cmd E ...

Re: Top M4L devices ?

+1 for the Stretta Suite, my favorite being the polygome64 with the Launchpad:

Re: Chopping audio

Its weird, you have to click right on the edge of the track to get it selected for chopping this way I'm a little confused by what you mean here, but, if this helps at all, I dug up an old video tutorial I made way back in 2004 for Live 4 which explains how to do this. It is the simplest and quicke...

Re: Budget Planning 2010

3. Elektron Monomachine. Been on my list for years now, wonder if this is the year I actually do it? Me too; been wanting one for the longest time. Luckily I came into a little extra money over the weekend and remembered I had always wanted a Monomachine, so I drove over to Big City Music and picke...

Re: Grid controllers - how are they used with Max/MSP?

Give me some examples of how the Launchpad and the APC's are being used differently with Max/MSP. Also, are grid controllers being used with Jitter? Here is an example of me using my recently purchased Launchpad and M4L patches monomeemu and polygome64 to emulate a Monome: http://vimeo.com/9310838 ...

Ok, I had to add this one even though most of you have probably seen it and it's more of a "joke" than an actual label release, but still, not only is it THE worst song (imho) but based on this, the guy got his own TV show on MTV from it! View it and weep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC...

Mackie made one as well:

Seems pretty ridiculous. You should never have to "pay" a label to split your own royalties, it should be the other way around. I run my own label and when I sign an artist, I pay for the start up costs of getting the CD pressed or getting them onto iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, etc. then I on...

My 2 cents... I have my own label with about 12 artists (5 of which are my own various projects) and tried going direct through iTunes. After 6 months of waiting, they finally told me I was too small a label and then recommended a third-party distributor, but that distributor required at least a cou...
