Re: Sentimental Squirrels - rough draft

Did my research on Bernie, didn't see the "wreckology" quote, but got another one "hands on". Whis I had checked him out 20 years ago. Would've saved me a lot of unnecessary experimenting. Still no regrets, I love messing around in music, and feeling grateful that I didn't become a star, so I can co...

Re: Sentimental Squirrels - rough draft

After all these 20 odd years from audio to midi back to audio and back and forth, and I have come to a very strong belief that real reggae music can only be achieved with real instruments, at least with the bass and rhythm. Just listened back to some tracks I did about 20 years ago, and realized I w...

Yes, that is a reggae tune. Like the chord progression.

Re: CPU Spikes... why??

Another thing, some 3rd party vsti's tend to use a lot of memory. Remember, that the AD/DA converters do a lot of calculations everytime you tweak a fader or knob, and this keeps adding up.

Re: CPU Spikes... why??

It is possible that other programs in the background are using up memory. Or, a vst in your set is overloading the CPU. Could also try freezing the suspected track/tracks and see if that helps.

Re: Looking for collaborators

Just did a quick listen to some of your tracks on my phone and the beats sound good. I have a few tracks working on myself. I will try to pm you so we could link up. I have been in reggae/ rocksteady/ dub for decades. Didn't like the rat race so I do most of my stuff from home now.

Re: I'm looking for mixing feedback or advice on this track.

To me the drum hits/snare could be a little more upfront. The synth seems ok. Not really versed in that genre, me being old school reggae.

Re: Record Bass Guitar with good sound

Also, roll off the super lows with a high pass filter. Which leads to the question.......how do you get sub bass in your production? But to add directly to the topic, I also have been experimenting with some waves bass plugs, with pretty good results. Of course, linear eqs and a good compressor lik...

Re: Mastering

Are you mastering or finalizing your tracks for rendering to wav? Of course I suspect you know that mastering your final track to get optimal overall loudness involves lots more than the peak value of your master track in Live.
