Recent Macs have problems with mean audio glitches, because of the firewire-controllers Apple is using. (And, of course, PCs have the same problems if they use these controllers.) What actually helps my creativity very much is a lot of practice. The better I know my instruments (mainly guitar and sax) and the more I play them the more ideas come to my mind and the better I can implement them.

I'm thinking about whether or not it would make sense to buy an external compressor for recording vocals and instruments. The DBX 160a would be a very likely candidate at more or less the cost of a Live license.

But: What would it give me that Compressor II does not give me already?
