Well, I think that "Ableton Live DJing" is more about performance. Ok, you need to prepare some stuff at home (warping) but then, during the performance you don't have to worry too much about "tempo thing". Warping + qunatization is a huge help. With "normal" DJing - vinyls or traktor / serato you ...

Re: uh-e Diva All Go !
yea, great synth but also CPU killer :) Luckily there are "quality settings" (save some CPU but not so much :D ), so it's possile to set "draft" mode and then export track with full quality. Yes, of course we can freeze but freeze is quite often unavailale (ie. sidechaining).

Just pick Nexus if you really need the sampled stuff. Or buy Sylenth + additional, third party soundbanks which often are pretty amazing.

Re: being accused of not being a "real DJ" with Ableton
I think the only problem is no one knows what you're actually doing. Playing your own stuff? Cross fading between tracks? Remixing? Or anything in between.

Re: being accused of not being a "real DJ" with Ableton
Well, mixing in Ableton IS different. Actually it's not a DJing for me too because it's totally different than typical, classic DJ way. I would call it LJ (Live Jockey ;) ).

Tone2 ElectraX
Synapse Dune
really, there are plenty of such synths
if you're more a presets player then definitely Sylenth, Nexus (Rompler) are your friends.

Re: Synths that allow user waveforms?
Well,
FAW Circle
Toxic Biohazard
can load wav files (single cycle waveforms) and are very user friendly.
It also depends what kind of waveforms are you talking about:
- short (single cycle waveforms) - Toxic Biohazard, Cakewalk Z3ta+, FAW Circle
- long (absynth, camel audio alchemy)
