if he ever performs it again, go see BT do This Binary Universe live. it still remains one of the best live performances I've ever seen. I took a buddy who is mainly rock focused and had no interest in electronica at all. he left with a new view on life.

Strange behaviour with un-warped tracks and tempo changes

I have been putting together a set of very different-sounding music -- different genres, different vibes (its for a specific event). in the beginning some of the songs vary quite a bit by BPM and so I leave them un-warped and just play them. since i'm not going to mix them like i would a house tune ...

i agree with laird on this. Live's main failing is that its so close to being a usable DAW but lacks some of the features that make editing easy in apps like Logic and ProTools (and the others). in-track crossfades between clips is the big one and the one that frustrated me and my other music-head b...

Mackie d.2 Mixer Integration with Live? DJ advice needed

I recently played a live dj set and had some issues with glitching and popping and it got me thinking that I should look into different hardware that would integrate with Ableton Live as a potential solution. In my search I ran across this: Mackie d.2 2-Channel DJ Mixer http://www.musiciansfriend.co...

alesis multimix 8 firewire. decent mixer. good sound. very compact. i should note that i seem to be having issues with detached drives running thru their firewire ports though. i'm getting a new hub and i'll see if its the mixer or the port and report back. other than the drive issues, its been an a...

and to do it on a mac, use aggregate sound devices. i have it working fine in live5 right now (it won't work in traktor dj studio for some reason). i set up my internal sound (via coreaudio) routing the cue mix out of my headphone jack on the powerbook and the multimix8 handles the other output.

thoughts on flytrap: love the builds and drops. there are some sections where you're doing filter sweeps that affecting the entire mix but they sound too... too much i guess. if the drums kept pounding as the filters changed the feel, it might feel like a more cohesive break from the synth rhythm. i...
