Re: Why Do DJs DJ? The "Cool Factor"
Life can be hard and depressing and sometimes music is only thing we can count on. In this day and age so much music is being produced and distributed globally over the interweb that we need full time DJ's that we trust to sort through it all. If all the DJ's stopped listening to other peoples musi...

How do I go about rendering the file, other than 'Export Audio/Video'?

Re: Drum & keyboard midi crossover problem
You'll need to go into your control editor for each device and ensure that they're on separate midi channels. If they are both going through the main, Live will simply trigger whatever's mapped to a key or control, irrespective of which controller it's coming from. I had the same issue a while back,...

Retaining quantisation when resampling?
Posssibly a silly question, but is there a way of retaining manual quantisation when resampling a track (for DJing). I've been working studiously on warping an old Chicago track, which it's beats are all over the shop. This means that I've had to manually quantise nearly all the beats, so that it do...

Re: Re:
Some of them need every single beat to be hammered down. wont that straighten out all the swing in the track? I would have thought that one quantization per bar would be the max to prevent from removing all the groove that the drummer or producer intended. Not necessarily. I understand the need for...

Re:
I agree with Inis. Warping songs isnt that time consuming for me...and if a song does take a long time to warp...that's just my edge over another DJ who is too lazy to do it. Hit the nail on the head :!: :) Warping can be a real pain in the ass, especially poorly quantised/older tracks where the be...

Re: PURELY DJing - Tips, Tricks, Tutorials
I absolutely love Ableton Live. I mean, I dream in warp markers occasionally. Once it all clicked, I sold my CDJs, mixer, etc - no hesitation, just jumped straight to digital DJing. I'm also getting into production in a big way. I'm still working between Live 5, and reason. At the end of August last...

Re: MARKERS IN A TRACKS CLIP VIEW!!!!
Would love to see this addition. Something I've tried to do with existing warp markers/notes - which can get a bit confusing (and can be quite cluttered a way of working) whilst DJing live and being in the moment. I think it would be great, especially from a DJ point of view, as would allow you to s...

Re: Can you build an MP3 set and easily convert it to WAV?
Mode - cheers for this info! Really useful, and something I've been considering for a fair while myself. Although the 1,000+ MP3 tracks I use to DJ are a fraction of the size of the decoding cache's associated WAVs, it's still valuable GBs of space they're taking up. Working from the WAV and ASD fil...

Re: Advanced APC40 DJ Set Up... please help!
S4racen - yeah, really wanting to get into Max. From the promo vid on youtube, it seems with the in built tutorials and notes it would also help teach users about some of the building blocks of how devices are made up and function. Kind of like Mechano teaching about engineering from a component lev...

Re: Berkley "Adv. music prod. with ableton live" - is it good?
I was very seriously considering taking this course, until reading this thread (and a few other, elsewhere - in a similar vein). After looking into it, it really is a hell of a lot of cash Berklee are asking for the course - £640 all in, inc enrollment fee and course material! After looking about at...
