Re: Using Ableton Before Amp in Guitar Signal Chain?

The impedance mismatch will be the main issue to get the type of amp interaction you would normally expect plugging guitar straight into amp. You can get a reamping device as Whizzercone stated to convert the low impedance of your audio interface output to Hi-Z. That being said, if you use any effec...

Did you already update to their newer software for Mavericks?

Re: Best iPad mic stand mount for singer/guitarist?

I've been using the Konig & Meyer holder. It is well built, and they are a reputable company specializing in music stands. They have a few varieties of mounts, but from what I'm understanding in your post, this one would fit your needs: http://produkte.k-m.de/en/product?info=703&x24244=ljtcj...

I haven't tried it myself, but the vjay app and an Apple 30-pin Digital AV adapter come to mind.

Re: Dedicated Ableton Program for iPad?

LiveControl 2 from Liine seems like the best option to me at the moment, but it does require purchasing Lemur and having Max for Live if I'm not mistaken. And as others have voiced, until Ableton is forced to release a proprietary app because of market pressure, there is very little incentive. They ...

I think people forget how bad L8 was when it was first released. I started using Live at the end of L7's life-cycle and it was very stable. The best bet is to keep using the previous version until everything gets ironed out.

Re: Guitar direct recording gear

I'd be interested to know how much processing you're doing through the Digitech (amp modeling or just effects?). Doesn't the Digitech have a USB connection? You can probably run the Digitech direct to your computer and bypass Terratec audio card. Does your Terratec audio card have any preamps or Hi-...

Re: what is the best EDM busker amplifier

I would stay away from the Cube Micro RX amp, as it is designed to be a guitar amplifier. That usually means the circuit and speaker are EQ'd to work well with a guitar, and may sound a bit off with other sources. The Roland Cube Street has a Line Channel, which would indicate it is designed for the...

Re: How would I go about hooking up a Moog LPF

Let's say you have a mono track in live that you want processed through the MF-101, not the entire master out from Live. You can simply set an external instrument device on the track or route sends/returns manually. Following is the breakdown of hardware connections required: Output 1 - Live mono tr...

Re: Setting up a reamp

To start, do you only have 2 channels of output from your audio interface? If this is the case, then you will not be able to have a stereo out of your Master. In this scenario, you are correct in having the bass go out on one channel and the Master be mono on a second channel. In Ableton, display th...

Re: ASIO soundcard in a USB stick

What features are you looking for in a soundcard (# of inputs/outputs, headphone amp, volume control)? There are many DAC's available in the hi-fi market that have a small form factor. From your brief USB-stick description, I would say the Audioquest Dragonfly . But that $3.99 stick looks pretty int...

Re: Is Live 9 Push the new Live 8 Share?

I think Push is a much, much safer bet than Share ever was, but the delays and poor product launches are indicative of Ableton's modus operandi for the last several years. Plus, Push will make them money. Share, as supposed to be part of Live 8, may have been an incentive for people to upgrade/purch...

Re: Where are the USB 3.0 audio Interfaces?

I haven't seen too many USB 3.0 audio interfaces, but many seem very capable simply using USB 2.0 The RME UFX and UCX come to mind. The Focusrite Scarlett line has a couple interfaces with 18 inputs at a lower pricepoint than RME. Plus, firewire connections seem to be getting phased out on new compu...
