Re: iPad as Ableton drum controller
OK, so I did some research and answered my own question. I purchased MidiPads from the app store after I got the free version to work. It connects to Ableton using the AudioMidi Setup Utility in the MacOS (I'm running Lion). It triggers well and has velocity by where you tap on the pad (center is th...

iPad as Ableton drum controller
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the iPad to trigger and record the drums in Ableton? If so, what apps and what additional connections are required? I was thinking of getting a Padkontrol, but since I already have an iPad it might be a less expensive way to trigger drum sounds. I do not exp...

Latency & Static Issues with Audio
I am having some serious latency and static issues with Live since I got a new Mac Mini w/ 8 gigs of ram and I7 processor running Lion. I play primarily guitar and I am using an M-Audio Fast track Ultra with the latest drivers. Here are the settings that overall sound the best, but I keep getting th...

Re: Audio Interface choices...
i use the m-audio fasttrack pro, has 2 preamps for mic & instrument. a nice soundcard w/o any driver issue. T Ditto. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackUltra.html It has 6 ins and 6 outs, so you can set up your gear so that different instruments use different amps, which I do for my...

Re: Guitar Plug ins
I like Audiffex and typically use it to augment my guitar sound (one track with the raw guitar and another with the effects). Their effects are available for guitar in two ways: Individual Effects plug-ins: http://www.audiffex.com/EN/software-effect-pedals.html Guitar Processor: http://www.audiffex....

Re: Problem with the 8.1.3 Upgrade
I found a file named "Install.log" and I opened it and one of the last lines referenced needing Admin Access (sorry I don't know the exact verbiage). I ran the program with Admin Rights and the program ran thru its automated set-up without any issues. Now that it has gone thru that process...

Problem with the 8.1.3 Upgrade
I just installed 8.1.3 and I am trying to open the program. As it is going thru a start-up process and it keeps hanging up. When it is "Scanning Default Packages" I get a screen for "Checking Package Dependencies" and it locks up at the 50% mark. As a result, I am not able to ope...

Re: Question re USB audio interfaces
I don't DJ, but I use a DAW for my live music. I use an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackUltra.html It has 6 inputs (8 using S/PDIF), 8 software returns, 6 outputs (8 if using S/PDIF) and 2 headphones jacks. (Note that the headphone jacks are somewhat speciali...

Re: good note detection device?
RMC and Ghost Hexaphonic are the two big names in bridge midi pickups. Even if he is using midi pickups, his tracking is great. Assuming that he is using midi pickups, I wonder what converter he is using - Axon or Roland or something different. Having dabbled with midi guitar for a few years, I can ...

Re: Boss effects as plug-ins?
I would also like to have the Boss pedals as VST's - especially the Boss GT-10 or even some of the Roland VG presets. Audiffex has a nice array of pedals that can be used as VST plugins. Their inTone GuitarPro comes with a VST plugin to play the presets within Live, or the 'Effects Pedals' lets you ...

Re: And Then ...What were your WORST purchases of 2009
What turned out to be an illegal copy of Ableton Live 8 off E-bay - cost me $200. I was finally able to afford a legal copy in December, and I'm happy to be legit.

Re: Is it possible to automate the changing of Scenes?
"Follow Actions" is what I needed to know. It is a little more complicated than I had hoped, but it looks like there are some opportunities to be discovered in the process. "Max4live, or clips sending midi via IAC bus or MidiYoke" is way over my head. I am a newbie and have much ...

Is it possible to automate the changing of Scenes?
I want to be able to set Master Scene 1 to repeat 4 times, go to Master Scene 2 and repeat 1 time, go to Master Scene 3 and repeat 2 times, etc.
Is this possible? If so how?
I looked in the PDF manual but did not find anything, which makes me think the answer may be "no".
Thank you.

I filed a claim with PayPal against this same guy and my claim was denied. I had even paid with the PayPal credit card. Here is what PayPal said: We're unable to decide this claim in your favor at this time. PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the shipment of goods but not to disputes about m...

Re: Work Arounds For Clip Automation?
Here is what I have been able to discover so far, which is Kore Player specific: I can record automation using the morph area over the midi track. It records automation envelopes for the ‘X’ and the ‘Y’ in the arrangement view. To get the ‘X’ and the ‘Y’ parameters to show in my midi track in the se...
