steved Posted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 11:42 am Post subject: Garageband I started using Logic for a few years - then pretty much abandoned it for Live . Live is great for all the aforementioned reasons - but I always got frustrated using the arrange view - and I've tried enough times - but it always felt...

Headache Rating: is there a winner amongst DAW’s?

This issue seems to be up, and Live Pro doesn’t seem to be in the works, so; Is there a hands-down winner for GETTING IT DONE WITH THE LEAST PROBLEMOS? Finishing complex productions, with the least bugs, hair-pulling, and wasted time. Say, mixing 10 MIDI tracks and 20 audio. And perhaps Rewiring Liv...

my highly caffeinted response would be:

get a cheap pressure sensitive 3-octave keyboard, assign each octave of keys to a different CC, throw it on the ground and voila! 3 pedals! you could even color-duct-tape each of the 3 octaves together into one mechanism.

I too had unusual behaviour when using a cheap (30$) USB hub. first of all , the spaghetti wires and the small and light design of the hub, was awkward and ugly. second, i would get midi annomolies, things going weird in AUDIO/MIDI setup in my P-book. or devices not being recognized. it also seemed ...

yes you need to hack to do this. no Live does not currently support overdub-style looping. But it CAN be done. i haven't messed yet with "midi translator" software. maybe my eyes will be opened when i do 8O Live 7 will finally cater to the loopers of the world!! Note: with the mouse, Live'...

get a bus powered midi-interface. this will take up one of your USB connections.

you can get 5 in 5 out , or 2x2, whatever you want. MOTU is good.

i would like a midi interface that connects via my soundcards' midi in/out, and powers off a regular A/C., instead of USB.

i always keep my power cables and computer cords in one bag and my instrument and midi cables in another. plug all my power first , then the cables.

but now i'm rack mounted and excited how clean and fast it will be to cram everything into the rack and seal her up!

good luck on your buying process. i'm always a fan of hardware myself, it is more intimate. but software is more powerful. if you do buy reason, i will sell you mine for cheap. that includes everything in the original box. you also get the authorization card which is really what you're paying for, w...

Should I get a sampler or Korg Triton Extreme?

I want a new sampler. I’ve tried so many, and still my beloved and I have not found each other. Or should I get the king of romplers, the Korg Triton Extreme? (would eventually get a sampler as well). I creamed when I heard about Ableton’s sampler, and saddened when I learned it was more synth than ...
