Been using Ableton for a while now, currently using version 5.0.3, however recently it seems to have slowed right down.

Everything still works however when mixing just two tunes together the CPU usages indicator keeps spiking at 50% to 60% when previously it would of been less than 10%. The level ...

I'm just making my first tentative steps into music production, can you guys recommend any good books to read which cover off much of the basic terminology? I'm at the 'Music Production For Dummies' level so I need something pretty basic.

spread across return channels: filter delay (3 in 1!), filter, reverb, redux, autopan, saturator, filter.

you could try using beat repeat and a transpose function, youd still have to automate it but it would have a level of acuracy, dont know if this helps? as im not familiar with the effect your trying to achieve?
