the processor load seems rather excessive, and i would expect
this not to be larger that 50%.
It is not on similar hardware i checked.

Just to be sure, you were using the document titled
'New in Live 8' which is referenced from the lesson ?

Could you please recheck if that problem ...

I do not think there are any files that would help.

To me it currently looks as if the recording track was armed
and the filesystem was already full at that point,
so that none of what was recorded could be written to disk.

The strange point here is, why did live not recognize that
no more free ...

I can not reproduce this. Propably i am missing
something, can you send a stripped down set
(as simple as possible) that shows the
bug after performing the above steps.

unfortunately i can not reproduce this here.
What is expected to happen (and what was happening when i failed
to reproduce what you experienced) is that about a minute before
you run out of recording space there is a warning message
and then another one after the recording was forcefully ...

live uses the quicktime libraries 6.5.2 so there seems to be
the remains of an old quicktime installation.
This does explain why what you see in the player is different
from what is displayed in live.
Why the newly encoded video shows flawless, i dont know.
May be it was previously ...

As I said, I can't check now, but could it be there's something wrong with Live 6 accessing the same libraries as Quicktime itself?

I'd guess too.
You might send me a live pack containing your preference folder,
which also contains the information about the quicktime library version ...

Several questions concerning your video setup.

Did you check the video quality with the quicktime player ?
Live uses the quicktime libraries so the quality in live should not be any
different from the quicktime viewer.

If you find any additional artifacts, could you tell what kind of
artifacts you ...

Found it.

If you cancel a rendering, subsequent renderings
which use the 'normalize' and/or 'render as loop' options
will also silently be cancelled after the first pass.

So, until the next bugfix update you will have to work around
by restarting live after you cancel rendering
in order to be able ...

This is a known deficiency of Freeze.
It currently does not yet work correctly with unlinked envelopes
in session clips. Session clips are frozen up until they reach the
loop end for the second time (you can see this after flattening).
As a consequence freeze audio diverts from the original after ...

Some remarks concerning unwarped playing
for warpmodes when the file tempo equals song tempo:

Unfortunately there is currently no indicator in the gui when
file tempo or song tempo are cut of after the second decimal.
So they might well differ a small amount, even though they

Can you tell if the rendering was started
("render to disk" message and progress percentage in status bar) ?

1. when freezing and flattening a midi track, the first note of the first bar of the pattern gets truncated. To get around it i've had to duplicate the pattern a few times and then freeze and flatten, to then get rid of that first bar.
