Grouping vs Bussing - differences and use cases

Hello! It's been ages since I've posted on this forum but after searching around I cannot find a discussion of this specifically so... When do you all prefer to use groups, and when do you prefer to manually route audio through busses? --- (Please talk about your own process if you feel called to, o...

in the track session clip where there is a stop button, right-click (or cmd E on mac) and choose to remove that pesky stop button!

Re: Zero 8 swaps the channels in Live

awesome, glad you've got it working. i was away from the internet for a few days (gasp) or I would've responded earlier. although it sounds like you've got a system that works, here's how i do it (in case others search for this thread): -plug the firewire and turn it on before starting ableton -the ...

Re: handy freeze tip.

funken: create a new audio track, set to in (rather than auto). then, in the input/output section (I/O button on the right to show/hide) send the output of each audio to that track rather than the master. duncan: it's saving a copy of that track to audio with all modulation stuck as is. essentially ...

Re: Zero 8 swaps the channels in Live

i have this mixer and have never encountered the problem you describe. or i am completely misunderstanding you. the source selector knob does not refer to the outputs directly, but the input source. if you have it set to firewire, it will only do an output from your computer if you have previously r...

Re: handy freeze tip.

if you want to bounce down multiple tracks at a time, bounce em to a bus, press record. save new version, delete CPU intensive tracks. you can always drag them in from the browser later.

ill.gates wins at life.
best money i've spent was one of his workshops years ago. been spreading this around.
music is a philosophy, not a technique. hard to teach that.

Re: [OT] Ableton's summing bus

My mix sounds different depending on what bus I'm riding on. Prevost, Greyhound, MUNI, VW. good point, each make of the bus (and the harmonics induced by their specific logo/branding) affects the infrasound characteristics of your mixdown. there are VSTs to provide virtual simulations to compare ho...

Re: help making my own binaural sounds using carrier frequency's

i've heard some ambient and psychill producers mentioning that they use it, but more often in new age sound compositions. paul stretch has it's own binaural generator which will work on samples or songs, so you could experiment with that. remember that it only works on headphones because of variable...

Re: So I have a newfound appreciation for Drum and Bass.

sorry to be a jaded responder, but why is this a newfound appreciation when this track sounds the same as the genre did when it jumped the shark a few years ago?

Re: Is it possible to record live audio from the internet into A

- How are your Soundflower preferences/options set? - Are you using Soundflower in 2-channel, or 16-channel mode? - How are your Audio/MIDI settings set? - Are you using Soundflower as the only output or in an Aggregate Device? - What Mac are you using? - Do you use Soundflower for long or short pe...

Re: Is it possible to record live audio from the internet into A

I've never had soundflower glitch on me, but sometimes it doesn't do enough. For example: something in Reaktor has gone gloriously wrong (a synth is self-oscillating, or something is glitching out badly, err good-ly.) If I press stop or play, sometimes these things stop, making adding a soundflower ...

Re: Look at Me Now (Juke Remix)

i dig it, super fun!
the main squiggly portamento lead is pretty constant throughout, and is interfering with the vocals a bit. maybe consider altering the dynamics of it through the song by volume or EQ amounts using that handy scale parameter.
