Have had the same problem since the last update.
Have to restart Live a few times before it allows me to save a patch.

Re: Replacement for Doepfer Pocket Dial... Arturia Beatstep?
Not new but what about the Behringer BCR?
Lots of encoders and cheap. Had mine for at least five years and has not let me down yet.
Plus with this new firmware, a top notch sequencer.

Another previous owner here. I would not buy one again. It was fun at the time with the step sequencer but IMHO not worth $300.

Re: ABLETON + NIO 2/4 + Analog Four Elektron synthesizer
Not a Mac user so I can't help with that side of things. You have two midi in/out from the nio. The nio only has one midi in/out. Have you tried using the second midi in/out. Can you see on your synth if it receiving midi? If so is the synth actually producing sound. Maybe obvious advice but its all...

Have you switched both audio inputs to line?

Re: Fear of rewiring gear
Don't be afraid of cables, cables are our friends.. I try to rewire my equipment about once a year. To clean and see if I can improve the layout of the wiring. My main advice, label everything. PSU, cables and sockets as well if needed (manufacture take note, how hard is it to paint that raised plas...

Re: The old 'controlling hardware with midi rack macros' trick.
When I tweak using mouse, the Pod updates immediately. APC, it waits until I stop, hesitates, and then updates. That really blows. Remote, is just hell and only responds when it feels like it. It might be conflicting with the APC though. Have you tried without one of the controllers. See if that na...

Are you sure? I was under the impression that you can not record VST automation.

Re: Reason rewire and external instrument racks
I'm set on using Reasons Subtractor, as I want to focus on one synth for now. Its a good sounding machine and very stable which is perfect for my needs.
Also I don't want to use VST as you cannot record automation into clips.
Thanks

Re: Reason rewire and external instrument racks
Thanks for the answers folks.
I want to use reason as a instrument rack. This way I can over come the problem of recording automation in session mode.
Think I will try Essentials first, next pay day that is
Cheers

Reason rewire and external instrument racks
I have been using Reason Adapted for Korg, rewired with Live. I have seen a few tutorials that state with reason there is a need for an midi and audio track. But with Reason Adapted I can set the audio input into the External Instrument Rack. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZVEMWWODsSU/UDDNLsb4zu...

Re: Blofeld + Blofeld Virtual Editor
This one works ok:
Vid Setting Up Blofeld Editor
Links are there as well to download.
Its based on the Cntrl project and they have a few editors for different synths.
