Thought I would post back for the benefit of anybody else who was in the same position as me.
All up and running now with my ipad as a controller for my DJ setup in Live. 8)
Was confusing reading up about it but all I needed was:
- TouchOsc App for iPad (£2.99)
- TouchOsc Editor (free ...

Re: Ipad dj control software
Right, I have just downloaded touchosc app, touchosc bridge and touchosc editor.
Just to check it works, did a test template with 3 vertical faders. All seems to be working - have been able to use midi learn in live to get these controlling paramters :)

Re: Ipad dj control software
Afaik you don't need Puredata to convert OSC to midi. There is this application called TouchOsc Bridge that handles the midi signals back and forth.
Look here:

Re: Ipad dj control software
Yeah I think I've seen the same template online. Seems a little basic tbh. I'd definitely need to tweak it.
To be honest I assumed that you designed the templates on touchosc on the ipad, and whatever you had running on the PC was just a server to receive the network messages and pass them on as ...

Re: Ipad dj control software
I may get djay as well.. But really looking for a solution for Live.
If I get touchosc on the ipad, what do I need on my PC to make it work? seems to be a choice of oscillator / puredata or bridge. What are the pros and cons? (Just want something that works!)

Ipad dj control software
Hi folks
I know there's info on the forum about this but I'm a bit confused and would appreciate some up to date advice.
I've recently bought an ipad and would like to put an app on it to act as a DJ controller for Live (effectively replacing my uc33e).

Is Live 9 64 bit (and why is link to 8.4b dead?)
Happy to be proven wrong but I couldn't find anything on the Live 9 info pages to confirm that it will be a 64 bit application.
Also note that the link to 8.4b is down.
Please someone tell me that Ableton are making Live a 64 bit app.

Re: Anybody tried Live 5 with Windows 7?
Hello,
I had Live 6 running on my desktop with Win7 no probs after I built the thing last year. Upgraded to Live 8 in Jan so don't use Live 6, but still on machine. Never used Live 5 sorry, 6 then 8. Just thought I'd confirm Live 6 works. No harm in trying 5.
Cheers

Sorry but you are completely wrong.
Microsoft still sell and support XP.
not anymore by this month. support is on a backspin since long time, only in bugfixing, nothing else. and there, only security bugs mainly.

Re: Anybody tried Live 5 with Windows 7?
Thanks for the reply. I would fully expect to find instability and bugs (Live's always been as buggy as hell in my experience anyway) but hoping to find someone who may have tried it to see if it "works" at all.

Anybody tried Live 5 with Windows 7?
I realise it won't be supported, but has anybody tried running Live 5 in Windows 7 64 bit? Does it work? The OS does have an option to run programs in compatibility mode.

Dunno about canada but round here no-one would dress like that to a techno night.
That photo is from a hard-house / trance night. I know because it is from the city I live in.
