Re: greyed out searched files ?

If you can see the file you want in Finder, drag and drop it onto the same grayed-out “missing” file name in the Manage Files list. This will prompt Live to search for all the other missing files in the same Finder location.

Re: Transfer all of Ableton from one Mac to another?

Is there a specific reason you don’t want to to a full-slather Time Machine clone of your old world on to your new Mac? Or a Migration Assistant transfer from your old SSD?

These would seem to be the easiest ways to ensure continuity of, well... everything?

Re: Matching recorded return track audio with original

As you record your Return tracks to Audio Tracks, make sure that the sends on the Audio (recording) track are disabled (rightclick, Disable All Sends). If the sends on the recording track are enabled while recording Return channels, it introduces an offset. I think it’s because Live pre-buffers, or ...

Re: Autopan problem

This is normal, and expected behavior when panning. Simply put the Autopan in a Rack by selecting it and hitting CNTRL-G / command-G, then bump up the Chain output level to taste. Usually +3db if you have the pan depth at 100.

Click the little headphone icon, upper left above the keyboard in your first pic. Now you’ll hear your notes as you edit or create them.

Re: Novation Launchkey vs APC Key - minis

When I went to buy a mini 2 octave keyboard I tried 3: the launchkey mini the apc key and another small akai. It was immediately apparent the apc key has much better build quality. The keys don’t wiggle around like loose teeth and the action feels much more solid than the other two. That alone clinc...

Re: Ableton with video output for live set

Yeah, VDMX would be a great choice, instead of playing the video from Live’s Arrange page. Live is not the right tool for the job for "live" video shows. You can do it, but you can run into issues with how to fullscreen the video on the projector, and Live is not designed for this purpose... Live wa...

Re: Video Export Solution Solved!

The thing that annoys me about how Live treats video, is that when exporting audio to a movie, the movie is re-encoded. That is to say it's re-rendered, which takes a LOOOONG time, with a generation loss of picture quality. Logic Pro does not do this. Logic, presumably because it's an Apple product,...

Re: Ableton with video output for live set

I would not choose to run Movies from Live’s Arrange page in a live setting. Here’s whats currently working for me: I have an 8yr old macbook pro (specs below). I currently run a Live Set of 10 songs, with 8-12 stereo stems for each song + live keyboards (mostly Ableton Samplers) played over top. Lo...

Re: Using M4L in a live performance?

Using M4L / Live 10 / and 8yo Macbook Pro (specs in sig below) for gigs. I'm only using Dub Machines' Magnetic effect in a Return track, but I can say I've seen no decrease in stability from when I didn't run Max4Live. ie no crashes or freezes. I do wonder about the possibility that some "home-brewe...
