Re: Basic question: export midi to audio

Okay, here's what's happening: You have the instrument loaded fine (in this case, the Simpler device contained in the "Grand Piano" instrument rack preset), and you have a MIDI clip in the session view, containing note events, and the clip is controlling that instrument correctly. However, you don't...

Re: Basic question: export midi to audio

Can you post a screenshot of the Live mixer with the channel showing (that has the grand piano on it)?

Re: Basic question: export midi to audio

What instrument (software or hardware) is providing the Grand Piano sound? In other words, can you describe how have you selected the sound, and where do you literally see the text "grand piano" appearing :) ? The more specific you are in describing this, the more helpful. This might help to piece t...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

if you want better performance make sure your dedicated (GPU) graphics cards is used when using Live. As we are talking about a relatively simple 2D GUI here, the difference should be negligible (and is) unless there's something wrong with the system. Always test to failure instead of seeing a numb...

Re: How to change the pitch of notes in ableton midi editor

This would be so cool if you could do this (like velocity), but with your keyboard also for a drum note in a pattern. I think you will need to describe exactly, step by step, what you mean by "with your keyboard also for a drum note in a pattern" (what is the pattern controlling and how, and how wi...

Re: Live 10.1 seems to be out

Terrific, and I mean TERRIFIC feature boosts in this update. I hope it's stable and reliable as well :). The sidechains not messing with freezing ability is huge all by itself.

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Oh btw, anyone tried 10.1 final already, are there any surprises in this regard? I'm in the middle of a couple of important work-in-progress projects, so I'm not risking it before I get those off the table, heh.

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Hello guys, I guess this thread would be the best place to ask the following question. So I'm building a PC right now for the sole purpose of music production and it's looking like this: i7 8700 16GB 3200MHz RAM I guess these are the two most important components that I need to mention. Basically h...

Re: Song sounds perfect in ableton but exported it sounds bad ):

at the very least, they should trigger (initialize the phase) at render start time, even when retrigger is disabled. No, they really shouldn't :) ! A separate "deterministic mode" which syncs in this manner and (in the case of random elements) exposes the seeds used in the algorithm and so on... is...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Weird that you're getting issues while still having free RAM. Might be a good idea to report this to support@ableton.com Yeah, I wasn't quite expecting that :) ... Glad I tried this, though. Seems like an easy fix for now, if someone else happens to get this behavior and struggling with a project. ...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

A quick tip that I stumbled upon today: If you are experiencing these slowdowns and are sure your DAW system is configured correctly or even professionally ;) (power states and yada yada, as they should be), try disabling all "RAM" buttons in your project's audio clip details and sampler settings . ...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

OK so please take this as healthy criticism, to failure is the coin of phrase, but what you want to do is take the CPU to failure and reduce plug ins until you get no crackles or other audio artifacts in your signal at all! Heh, no worries, but yes, that is of course what I did, otherwise I wouldn'...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Continued a bit from above: as predicted, but still interestingly, the percentage-wise difference between versions becomes less when using a longer buffer. Bumping the buffer from 128 to 512 samples, Live 8 runs 143-144 instances of Collision in that same project before getting the crackles, and Liv...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Thanks for taking the time, it's reassuring to know that it's that much on par on some systems :). And yep, to failure is the only valid way to determine how the totality of any given system performs, that's very important, and agreed. I recreated your test using 44.1 kHz sample rate and a 128 sampl...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

Yep, I love Live also, and have used it for fifteen years :D ... And again, just now, the latest project I did was Live all the way. Now that I have kept those massive "traditional" composing projects elsewhere, I've been happier and feel like I'm using these tools according to their strengths, with...
