Re: Simple gain staging/levels question
The kind of general rule of thumb is the -12 db rule, but it is by no means a necessity. I usually set my individual faders for drums at -12 and then keep the drum bus at 0. (Note that if you are using simpler or sampler I think the default volume on the device is set to -12, so if you do both of th...

Is gain being added anywhere in the signal path?

Re: Get your ears out and try'em on these quick mixes!
Hard to tell a real definitive difference between the two honestly, at least on my Shure cans. It sounds to me like 1.00000002 has a wider lead sound than 1.00000003? Sounds like you are trying to find the tree when you need to just look at the forest, imo. As for translation it seems like not much ...

Re: Where's a good place to find vocal collaborators?
Most vocalists that are looking to collaborate are also looking for assets like a recording studio, mics, etc. It is going to be a bit difficult to find a vocalist that wants to work with you as a producer (not you specifically, just in general ) as it will likely mean bringing in a third party to d...

Re: Post your March 2015 track
I'm....so ashamed... Fifty shades of great. :) Haha that's great, thank you for the kind words. I was ashamed because yeah, it is kind of cliche pop sensation. I love Ellie's voice as well so I had fun doing the project. Also the association of the track with that movie was a little damning... Than...

Yeah, I did it.... Ellie Goulding Love Me Like You Do remix
Been a while since I have had time to work on music, had a few nothing tracks but this is I guess the first one to make it to soundcloud in a while.

Drag your drum rack back into your browser, it will save it in there for using later.

Re: Kicks - Effects?!
A heavily driven saturator for those hard breakdowns? High pass filter automation? The saturator would obviously need some make up gain adjustment, so you could have it in a rack with a limiter/utility or use the output fader of the saturator if it has one. Sometimes I use a really heavy reverb'ed k...

Re: Automation Snap To Grid?
Highlight the section you want to edit (say 4, 8 bars, etc.), move the whole line down or up, it will create 4 breakpoints, each two side on the respective grid line. Then you can move them vertically to taste. The only way that somewhat satisfies my tendencies. Delete the extra breakpoints if you d...

Re: EDIT: Tested lives PDC with parallel comp - success
Ok, I got scared for a sec because I thought I figured out a way to prove that it doesn't compensate but it does . I used like thirty compressors (set to a ratio of one so they wouldn't do anything) and the tracks still synced up fine. You can actually hear live delay the whole song when you hit pla...

Re: making beat with metronome
A metronome just helps you stay in time. So the way to use it is...turn it on.
