uff, i'm also just experiencing serious rendering problems! each time the rendered track is completly silent after 1 minute... :(

no, you can't do it with one operator. but with a bit of live routing it's possible to set up a nice drummachine. just did one a few days ago to get used to live routing and filter midi notes.
you can try it out here! perhaps it is what you're lookin for.

yeah, i had the same experiences while beta testing. here is my post, but i never got an anwser from ableton:

it improved a little bit with the latest betas, but never was the same as in Live4.
