Re: power conditioners: fact or fantasy?
Having worked in various live performance situations, I think good power protection and conditioning is sometimes a critical component. A good example: $1.5M worth of digital audio/video gear at a conference in a small facility not quite designed for large groups. During testing we popped the breake...

Sales & Promotions
It seems the industry is going through their spring sales cycle. The ones I know about: - Image-Line has Sakura, Sawer, Morphine, Toxic Biohazard, Poizone, and Drumaxx for $49 each. - Ableton, of course, as their 3 day 33% off. (My CC is standing by.) - Time+Space has a 75% off sale until the 31st (...

Re: Is it possible to record takes??
Live does have a feature that allows multiple takes to be captured in a single file. In arrangement view, set up a loop and turn on looping. You can now record inside this loop. When the loop restarts, the recording restarts. When you're done doing your takes, you can select the take you want by mo...

Newb Question: Korg Electribes - Why would you want one?
Korg has two Electribes that look almost identical. They have similar model names. Best I've been able to tell they seem almost identical. Am I correct in understanding the EMX1SD has some kind of synth engine in it, and the ESX1SD is essentially a sampler? I don't have a desire to purchase either u...

Utah Only - WTS Launchpad & PadKontrol
I have a launchpad and padkontrol that I'm trying to sell. I'll give someone local a really great price on the pair. I'm in Utah county. Both have been very well taken care of, have only seen light use in the office/bedroom studio, and I still have the original boxes. I have a setup here if you need...

Re: Jealous about FL
If Image Line can continue to function by giving free life time updates, but Ableton charges money for theirs, how do you figure that Ableton will disappear from the market even though they haven't charged for an update in two years??? The two companies have a different business plan and model. Ima...

Using DXi2 Sound Modules
I've got a few older DXi2 only modules I'd like to use in Ableton. The best I can tell, Live does not support DXi plugins for some reason. I've found a few older threads with dead or misleading links, which aren't very helpful. Does anyone know of a free or low cost VST that can host DXi2 sound modu...

It is not the size of your library, but how you use it that counts.

Re: fl studio is amazing - please give me some cons
The Bad: The "live" mode in FL is a joke. You're quickly going to be jockeying a gazillion patterns with no easy way to wrangle them. Most MIDI assignments are super easy, some of the more important assignments are a major head-exploding PITA (the mod wheel??!? SERIOUSLY!?). The Good: Inte...

Internal Controllers
My apologies if this is a repeat request, or there is some way to do this I don't know about. I'd love to see internal controllers, along with a set of plugins that generate control signals. For example, I'd like a generic LFO I can apply to any automatable parameter. Or how about a plugin that take...

Re: Launchpad over USB Hub
I use a USB 2.0 four port hub with a power supply. The launchpad is dog slow on it for some reason as well. Even just a tiny amount of latency seems to really affect the launchpad's performance.

Internal Controllers
I will admit that I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to all of this stuff, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this one. I'm not trying to start a holy war here. If you don't know, please feel free to ignore this... Does Ableton Live have anything similar to internal controllers in FL S...
