Re: 80s Production Techniques

well I just took a random stab at it, tried my best to make it sound 80s. But if im already doing it correctly then I am happy. I was mostly going for a com truise sort of sound. College is also very cool, sounds like he applies some of the limitations that were around in the 80's to his productions.

Re: Best ways of reducing CPU load

Not sure I can add anything other than to say it's a big issue for me as well. Surprised at the CPU jump in Live 9.

Live 9 CPU Usage

Sorry to be negative but... Live 9 (32bit) CPU use is really hit and miss. All kinds of different things send Live over 50%, too many to mention. Something must be wrong. Live 8 it was pretty almost impossible to get over 50%, let alone get pops & crackles, and that's in full sets. Live 9 one or...

Mathew Dear - Beams

Released this year, just got into it recently, amazing. Her Fantasy, Ahead Of Myself & Do The Right Thing really stand out for me but the whole record is fantastic.

Re: Sound Toys 4 big problems

Yeah, contact Soundtoys directly, they're quite helpful. I even talked to them on the phone once, it's a family business. Sounds like it's a major headache though, hope you can get the problem figured out. Good luck

Take Shelter - w/ Michael Shannon from Boardwalk Empire & Jessica Chastain from Tree of Life. Also, check out the first movie from director Jeff Nichols (also w/ Shannon) Shotgun Stories. Nichols is going to be huge, gotta be one of the best young directors out there. Both fantastic movies. Can'...

I use Pro Q all the time, efficient & flexible. Like all their plugins a lot, but I use the nuts & bolts ones the most.

Re: what point do you give up on a song? after 1, 2 or 6 years?

The track Untitled? I like it. It's lovely. Bit loose on the low end but it's that kind of rolling track. A touch of something bright would be cool as a counterpoint, like a watery electric piano melody played in a high-ish register. I dig it.

Re: Low Cut Kick Drum for my dog?

I usually find the fundamental frequency, boost that a bit, and then hp filter up as close to the fundamental as possible without affecting the tone & weight too much . I have no idea if this is a good idea, don't take my word for it :)

Re: Looper - Softstep question

With Looper's multifunction button or by mapping play, record, overdub etc. each to their own pad? I'll try to take a look at it tonight.

Re: Looper - Softstep question

By "follow the status" do you mean have the LEDs change w/ the Looper's multifunction button? The way I set up Softstep's LEDs is having one pad's LED turn off when I press any other pad, so I don't know how this would work. Sorry. For instance, I have play pad solid green, overdub pad fla...
