Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Sounds great to have a options for Windows users. If it's confirmed that the Windows version works, I'll host it on my .Mac account too. The script modification sounds great too- I'll have to give this a shot.

Re: Akai MPD and MPK pad mods - tips for better pad sensitivity

Thought I'd post about how went about this. I didn't like the feel of the pads with the square tape bits (felt wobbly) so I wanted to make circular tape pads that matched the diameter of the original MPD pads.

Step 1. I got some aluminum foil and laid out a long strip of 1 1/2" plastic tape (Scotch ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

P.I.C.N.I.C. ?

Not familiar with that, but I'm guessing it's like an ID 10-T (ID10T) error? :D

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

I'll check it out once I get a chance to install Snow Leopard- probably later this week. I have the disc but haven't had a chance to check it out.

Hopefully I have some time left on the Max demo.

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Will the APC buddy allow all other info to pass through to the APC untouched?

In practice, yeah, but there is a catch. CC and Sysex is passed through as usual, but all notes can be modified. This means that some of the other pads may have their velocity changed by the mappings. I think that it ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

I put up a new version that will let you select which MIDI stream to use so that you can daisy-chain this with any other tools like Bome's or other Max patches as long as they use virtual ports. The idea is that other apps will create a virtual port that will feed into APC Buddy. APC buddy will then ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Hey guys,

A new version of APC Buddy is up idisk.mac.com/dstroud-Public/LiveAPC40

It's mostly just cleaned up, but you can now save your settings. Let me know if it works for you.

Re: Yet another Live 8 beta: Live 8.0.5b8!

Guys,

So that we don't hijack this thread any further, I'll put future updates about the APC Buddy color remapper on the previous thread at: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=116913&p=957592#p957592

The new version may work for some of you guys who can't distinguish any of the colors.

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

@dstroud

thanks that you made an application for this problem. Like you describe your app this would be exactly the solution for my problem.

I downloaded it but it does not work for me. I don´t have Max , so I opened the APC buddy app (this runs), but I it does not appear in the dropdown menu of ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

OK guys, good news. While I've been busy stirring up the hornet's nest, it turns out that this might not be a problem after all. I don't know why this was not working for me before, but I just tested again and it looks like we're not getting blocked- at least in version 8.0.5b8.

Sorry for wasting ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Rich,

Yeah it most def will not work in 8.0.5 beta, only in 8.0.4. Also, my workaround won't work 100% if you can't tell the difference between any of the colors. There may be a couple of options if the Ableton guys don't cripple the functionality we have in 8.0.4.

1. Since LED feedback while ...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Rich,

I have some info on the MidiPipe workaround up at idisk.mac.com/dstroud-Public/LiveAPC40 but I don't think that Kai got this working. If you care to test this out, let us know if you have any luck. Also, I had the same thought about the LEDs, but they use tiny SMDs and I believe they only ...
