Re: Ableton Push 3 update
It's been a long time since I posted here, but what a beautiful product. I absolutely love that it's upgradable in such a clean and straightforward way. It wish more companies made things with that much care and respect for their customers and the world.

Operator: Automate/modulate harmonics
Operator is awesome for subtractive synthesis and for FM... and it would be an awesome additive synth if I could just automate or modulate the harmonics of the user waves somehow...

Re: Tracking a band with shifting time signatures?
My old band had a song that shifted between 3/4, 4/4, and 5/4. I didn't know how to insert time signature changes into the programme I used to record it (or if it could), so I just tracked it to a 1/4 click. I was recording a song for a friend that went from 4/4 to 6/8 in the middle, and the tempo o...

Re: Soft To Hard?
Most of my non-drum sounds now are coming from hardware. I prefer the interface on the hardware I have to soft synths. I don't mix on a mixer because a) I don't have a good one and b) I like total recall. But I also just discovered the sequencer on my Ensoniq VFX-SD. It's fun and incredibly easy to ...

Re: Right and left channels bleeding into each other... HELP!!
Therefore I can't see why the click is (faintly) audible on the other output. I haven't found any evidence of anyone else experiencing this problem with this particular hardware yet either. My guess is it's just crosstalk - it's basically because the left and right outputs aren't properly insulated...

Re: Right and left channels bleeding into each other... HELP!!
Not much you can do if there's cross talk between the outputs... Does the Lexicon have a digital output? Could use that if you can find something to use as a DAC, maybe an old minidisc recorder, or a hardware reverb or something.

Re: Studio Speakers
This may seem like heresy to some but for the average bedroom producer treating a room will just lead you down a rabbit hole. Just arbitrarily "deadening" can create as many problems as a live room. Interesting. This is the first time I've heard that position, can you elaborate on it? I a...

Re: Studio Speakers
I've got a couple of nice hifi speakers (hand-built by someone who knows what they're doing from decent parts), and a good hifi amp. I wasn't happy with the sound in my room much less the sound of my mixes, but I've been pissing my money away on vinyl and synths instead of saving up for monitors. Wh...

Re: New Macbook Pros
firewire has licensing fees from IBM I believe? Don't think so... but it used to be you had to pay Apple a dollar per port to call it firewire (their trademark). This is why Sony laptops had i.Link ports... which were firewire ports, except for the name. Some Argue(tm) this is one reason they didn'...

Re: New Macbook Pros
My main computer hasn't had an optical drive since early 2009. I bought a USB one because I thought you had to have it.. I can't remember when I last used it. I don't buy CDs or DVDs any more. Don't miss it at all. Certainly would feel stupid to carry it around everywhere! If it lets them build a th...
