Having one of those moments where the more I try, the further away I get from what I want to accomplish.

So ableton forum it is!

Trying to get this sound. Have something similar and it's just not as bright/polished

Any tips?

It sounds more like an analogue cymbal than an open hat. Similar to 808 or 606 cymbal, but with a bit more of a high pitched bell like tone and less white noise 'hiss'.

If it is a vintage sample, my money is on a Korg KPR-77 cymbal.

However, it also sounds mightily like the default analogue ...

Gonna try and find better samples, admittedly having not used the 606 samples a lot I've never really needed them and the only ones I have are self recorded from a 606 as part of a college project.

I think it sounds a lot better now with the choke on the hats?

Anymore other criticism is welcomed also, want the hats to be perfect.

Just don't sound as smooth as his, maybe it's the sample I use, I dunno, tried messing with all sorts of swing and other grooves ...

I can never get my hats to have that same roll like his do, they never sound as smooth.

I use Ableton to produce, traktor to DJ, and I'm thinking of going live.

The one thing that stumps me is the looping in Traktor, 1-2-4-8-16-32 etc.

A brilliant system and one I'm really used to.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of setting something similar up in Ableton?

For a while this was the only claps I was using.

I went into arrangement view and made like 2 or 3 new audio channels, added claps, snares, whatever and layered them up and zoomed right in ever so slightly altered where the samples started so they're a little bit off, some sound really good and ...
