I would try windows 7 also. I had some problems with my hp nx7400 on windows xp, after upgrade to windows 7 some of the problems where gone.

Yes, the pref`s are ok (midi ports in/out on a track and remote are on for launchpad). Running as administrator didn`t change anything. On my both computers running windows 7 64bit, live 8.1.3 stopped working correctly with my novation launchpad! Making a few midi clips, pushing mixer button on the launchpad and session button hangs the device. It works well on 8.1.1.
