A pretty good explanation I bumped into in one of the NI forum threads:
When using the Internal Mixer, you assign 1 stereo pair of outputs to the main out. Any mixing you do in Traktor's multiple decks must be merged (or summed) in real time, turned into a stream, sent out the USB/Firewire port to ...

No, it doesn't have a built in audio interface. It's an external mixer to have a better output quality and ensure a more club friendly setup. Well at least what people on forums and more advanceddjs/producers do, they always use external mixers.

Re: Insight into modular DJ setups
It's the difference between DJing and Performing for the most part.
Different people will add different controllers when they feel the need to. Trying to solve your performance requirements before you have an idea is like trying to write a novel ready for release when you don't have a concept of ...

Insight into modular DJ setups
Hey guys
Could someone explain a bit more detailed about modular DJ setups? Particularly what I'm interested to know is:
- what is the benefit of modular setup over a standard 4 channel DJ controller?
- what is the role of external mixer in the setup? Should it be a 2 or 4 channel mixer?
- what ...

Re: Cueing in Ableton
Thanks! Well after reading so much forums about Ableton and other DJ software, I have developed an impression that Able to is not really a DJ friendly software, unlike Traktor for example. That's where my concern is. I mean if things are easier to work in Traktor, why make my life more complicated ...

Re: Cueing in Ableton
And I can't really figure out - do DJs have master audio playing in their headphones too? Or do they like have master in left channel and cued track in right channel? Cause when I played both audio and cued tracks in stereo, I could barely hear the cued track

Re: Cueing in Ableton
By all means I'm no DJ but I enjoy dabbling with DJ'ing. Here's how I setup my DJ template to hear the main mix and cue.
1. Create two audio tracks named Deck 1 and Deck 2 (or whatever you prefer them to be named)
2. Set the Deck 1 crossfader assignment to "A" and Set the second Deck 2 crossfader ...

Re: Advise on setup
OK so probably on early stages I will be convinced to use Traktor. Is the mentioned setup OK for my needs?

Advise on setup
Hey guys,
In order to start DJing live I just got my NI KA6 for cueing purposes. The next thing I wanna buy is a pair of controllers to control both Ableton and Traktor (I am not sure yet which one will I use but I find Traktor a bit boring compared to Ableton). Well the controllers I mean to get ...

Re: Mapping question
OK so as far as I understand (for both ABleton and Traktor), I can map all the parameters at home, then close the DAWs, come to a club, plug my controllers back again and if I start a new set (let's say I didn't prepare any stems at home), the midi parameters will still be there?

Mapping question
I have a question - do all parameters which you map from MIDI controller to Ableton or Traktor for example, get reset once you unplug MIDI controllers from a laptop and plug again before live performance?

Re: Cueing in Ableton
What optimal way of cueing tracks would you recommend?
You seem to have been able to activate cueing, so the normal "DJ" way to prelisten would be to either have the fader down or use the crossfader set to only one track that's playing trough the main speakers. The cueing allow for prelistening ...

Cueing in Ableton
I just got my NI Komplete Audio 6 and want to learn DJing live in Ableton. My concern however is that I don't seem to set up the cueing mode correctly. I mean i found some very good vid in which the guys explains that for mixnig live you have to create a separate audio channel, set it to constant ...
