Re: 25% off upgrading = Live 9 announcement in early 2011?

Is Ableton still working on fixing all of the critical bugs in 8.x before working on a new version or putting out new features?

Re: Live 7 and 10.6.5?

Live 7.0.18 has worked fine for me on 10.6.x. Granted, I only do minor editing and composing so it doesn't really get pushed that hard or really used all that much. There doesn't seem to be any red flag incompatibilities, though.

Re: Kind of OT - Controllers, Laptops & USA Airports

As long as it doesn't seem like you're trying to hide anything, you shouldn't have any problem going through security especially if you're just making a connection. If you just have a layover in the states, I don't think customs is going to care if you're carrying any "musical instruments" to "work"...

Re: when will i be able to use 3rd party VST under rewire ??

I think what the OP is trying to do is use Live as a host for VST's to use within Pro Tools, similar to how Reason works naturally. AFAIK, this is not something that you can do using ReWire and the alternative is to use the VST-RTAS wrapper so that you can just use the wrapped VST's directly in Pro ...

Re: Is ableton falling behind?

Ableton's decision to put all of their focus on fixing bugs looks like they're focusing on primarily trying to maintain their current user base. Of course, they want new customers as well, but making sure that all of their current users have a fully working, as-close-to-bug-free, version of Live 8 s...

There are situations where one method would be more suitable. If it's just one track that you have the effect on, then there's no point in creating an fx return just to eq it. Same goes for if you're already using an effect rack.

"iPad $500, another iPad $500, shitty mixer $100, sound card $100... so $1200. That's cheaper than getting 2 CDJ's, serato, and a laptop which will run you almost $3500."

Bitch, you're using a MacBook Pro, too!!!

Re: Roland's new SH-101 VA (without the 1) GAIA

This looks kinda cool. For some reason, it's appealing to me WAY more than the SH-201, which I found to be completely awful. In the video, I can really hear a cheap plastic feel to the keyboard. That part isn't sounding so hot to me. I'd consider it if has a plug-in/software editor.

Re: Motu 828MkII XP Pro SP3 issues w/driver and output in Live 8

Generally speaking, you do want a firewire card with the TI chipset. I would imagine that you're connectivity issues will go away when you get a fw card with the TI chip. When I sold my Ultralite, a new Windows driver had just come out that actually doubled the input and output latencies. That prett...

Re: Motu 828MkII XP Pro SP3 issues w/driver and output in Live 8

This is the thing that drove me INSANE when I had an Ultralite. What you'll want to do is make a new session and set your master output to be 11/12. Then in the preferences, save the current session as the default template. (Sorry, I don't have Live in front of me so I don't know the exact wording.)...

Even if that is a real recording of her singing live, I would expect that a lot of these big acts would use a Digidesign Venue system with Auto-Tune on her vocal track.
