Glad that helped you. Yeah, the logic of it is mind-numbing.

I will warn you I'm finding a glitch with Push automation recording in the Arrange where you will get "jumps" about 50% of the time after releasing a knob -- but only if there are pre-existing automation values in that lane. Which is of ...

I just did a bunch of automation recording with push the second the other day direct into arrangement view with no issues at all no mapping nothing being over written or anything!

This is currently an insane limit on the musicality of the arrange window.

The workaround I've been using is to use only MIDI CC-controlled devices, and bypassing Ableton's automation-based clip envelope system entirely since I can't "play" into it.

I would love to be able to record incoming controls into the Arrange window clip envelopes. Since Ableton doesn't support this feature, would you please add the ability to edit clip envelopes to the Live API?

I can verify this. The only way I've found to work around this issue is to use external midi gear in Local mode, record into a Midi track in Live with monitoring turned off, and listen to the output of the external gear through a mixer or internal monitoring setup in my soundcard. Basically ...
