Re: User group meeting in Montreal
Hey Araz,
sorry for the late reply, missed your post and it's exam season.
I'd be interested in both having a few and talking about live and helping start a user group for MTL.
cheers,
Thomas

Re: ULTIMATE Clip Pack/Tune Organization for DJs
You can use the Save funciton in sample view,
that will write the clip's settings to file and load your changes next time you load the sample
Cheers

Re: Beat slicer-esque?
You guys should check out
http://www.cableguys.de/index.html
They let you draw wave shapes for either pan, volume and filter.
Pancake, the pan one is free to boot.
@Tyler,
I've finally gotten around to listening to the NI example,

Re: New to Ableton, Basic questions?
For 1, I think that the Drum Rack is exactly what you're looking for. Each pad has it's own signal path and they can be expanded in sesion view for mixing and control. It even has choke groups and onboard routing, which gives you a lot of control. Check the manual for specifics

Re: Newb qu: why are tracks yellowed out/muted in arrange view?
You're probably still in Session Mode. When you go back to arrangement view, be sure to hit F10, the Back to Arrange button, or the GUI button located between the main transport functions and the global quantization drop down. It looks like three tracks on top of each other with a right pointing ...

Re: Beat slicer-esque?
imagine a a drum loop that is still playing, but every other 16th note silent.
You can use the autopan for that.
If you turn down the Phase knob to 0, the autopan modulates amplitude. You can also aproximate a square wave, to get really defined cuts in the signal, by setting the Shape knob to 100 ...

Re: Drum Rack Voices
if you want to emulate impulse's behaviour, you could drop an impulse in your drum rack and have the drum rack trigger the impulse.
hope this helps

These are great. I really like the use of the chain selector in the pack's one button effects. Thanks Tarekith.

Re: Apply an effect on some specific notes?
I don't think that there is a work around to duplicating the chains. But for what it's worth, idle chains won't take up processing power. This seem like a fun idea though.
