thanks for the quick reply. I think I almost got rid of this virus completely and I did try removing the preferences file in that folder previously. I removed the templates file too and it still doesn't work.

any other ideas? thanks again

hey I loaded a virus in my computer by accident and now when I load ableton it says "static initializer not called" and I cannot use the program. I tried reinstalling ableton but I didn't clear the user profiles anyways I was upgrading from 7 to 8, so I don't know if that matters or not bu...
