Re: Recommended resources for beat/drum programming?
Yes, I know what you mean. It's great for extracting the feel and nuance of beats (which is the hardest thing to emulate!).

Re: Recommended resources for beat/drum programming?
Thanks man. I sort of knew this might be the answer, but, in the end, there's no substitute for doing things properly I guess.
I do usually start with drums, so will try the melody first method.
Cheers.

Recommended resources for beat/drum programming?
Hi All, I'm feeling a bit frustrated that my drum programming always sounds very boom bap (in a bad way). Has anyone found a really great resource for drum programming that helped them progress? Ideally something with advice on finessing beats, adding complexity, layering / tweaking of sounds, varia...

Re: Music theory is easier than learnig to sing....
This is one of the strangest posts I have ever seen. You think that people wanting to translate their hummed melodies into midi are going to be held back by the fact that they are not world class singers?
The technology won't discriminate against poor singing tone.

Re: Post your Live 9 upgrade path and price
I think if you read everything that's been posted the complaining is much ado about nothing, albeit caused by poor communication on Ableton's behalf. Live 9 isn't being released for another 3-5 months. If you currently have Suite 8 you're already maxed out and there is nothing that Ableton can sell...

Ableton Live 8 Suite + Max for Live upgrade to Suite 9
Excited about Live 9. Quick question. Some of use own Suite 8 and Max for Live. Now that Max is going to come with Suite 9, I feel a little cheesed off that we're not being shown upgrade love as existing owners of Max. I've been quoted 199 euro to upgrade to Suite 9. MY ownership of Max doesn't seem...

Re: Best web resources for learning about Music Theory?
Thanks everyone, and sorry to bring back traumatic memories for you Linear Phase! I think you're all bang right. I just need to knuckle down and do the hard work, cos the rewards will be worth it. I've got Music Theory for the Computer Musician, and am going to go through it and FINISH IT this time....

Re: Best web resources for learning about Music Theory?
Thanks again everyone for these suggestions. I'd be interested in hearing more from people about their breakthrough moments in understanding music theory. I've been abortively trying to grasp it for a while. I'd love to hear about people's experiences of doing the same, and the one piece of knowledg...

Best web resources for learning about Music Theory?
Hi all, Just wondered if anyone had any tips on the above, especially with reference to computer music and Ableton. I've watched some Ableton Cookbook videos, which were very helpful, but would like to go a bit deeper. Do any Ableton users have any videos or resources which they found useful in expa...
