I'm selling my license through Ableton's license transfer, the reason is lack of use due to missing Linux support
The license is valid for both OS X and Windows and eligible for transfer, payment will be accepted through PayPal or bank transfer (but I recommend PayPal so we have a safety net ...

Unfortunately M4L doesn't quite work after all, see the edit in my original post.

Re: Ableton Live on Linux with recent Wine versions
That great at least there's a cheaper way to get into live (no windows or osx) what's the latencies like with the audio drivers though?
The lowest setting I can go without getting severe dropouts/xruns is 256 samples, which results in a latency of 10.7ms on my M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 PCI ...

Ableton Live on Linux with recent Wine versions
There used to be some pretty show-stopping problems with running Live on Linux with Wine, namely no rendering/freezing, and slow GUI performance (although that could be fixed with the unofficial DIB patch).
But recent development versions of Wine seem to have fixed all of these problems, and Live ...

Why are the downloads still zipped?
It's always annoying to unzip the Setup.exe from the zip download, and looking at the filesizes the "compressed" file is actually even a bit bigger:
1'759'253'419 bytes Setup.exe
1'759'253'666 bytes ableton_suite_822_with_content.zip
So I guess lots of time and CPU cycles could be saved all over ...

Re: Whats the best virtualization for win7 in linux for live?
My experience using Wine 1.3.12 on Debian sid:
* Audio performance is bad unless you use wineasio and JACK
* GUI performance is laggy unless you use the DIB engine patch
* Most things involving temporary files don't work at all, e.g. recording and rendering
* Max for Live devices won't be ...

Re: Should Ableton have support for linux??
It would be nice to have an official statement if they are even considering a Linux port.
Do you seriously need a statement???
You already know the answer. C'mon. Deep down you know this.
Well excuse me that I'm not as pessimistic as you ;-) I know it's unlikely, but even if they don't ...

Unfortunately it's still the same with the latest Wine beta 1.3.12.yop44 wrote:Does anyone have given it a try lately? Does it work better?

Re: Comb and Formant Filters for Operator and Auto Filter
Yeah, as I said it's pretty basic
But definitely +1 on having comb and formant filters available in all built-in filters, and also +1 for "big hairy monster munching on static"

Re: Comb and Formant Filters for Operator and Auto Filter
You can create a basic formant filter yourself with an effect rack and the EQ vowel presets, and then you can assign a macro knob to cycle through the vowels.
I guess a comb filter could be recreated similarly, but I agree that having more filter types available in Ableton would be great!

Re: Using SynergyKM with Ableton Live (OSX)
Have a look at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1724158&group_id=59275&atid=490467, in short the solution is to enable relative mouse movements on the server and then lock the screen to the client using ScrollLock. If you do this the mouse should work fine and you can also ...
