Save Midi Mappings as standalone files that can be imported

It would be amazing to be able to save different controller mapping / configs and import them in. use case: I have my full DJ controller setup and a smaller setup (Push 2 + midi fighter), and I'd love to be able to play the same set, but switch out what controllers are activated and the mappings for...

Launchpad Remote Script for Multiple Matrices [Help Req]

Hey everyone, I saw in Will Marshall's Advanced APC MKii he breaks the APC grid into two 4x5 matrices, where you can move the left one, and the right one is static. I'm trying to emulate something like this on the Launchpad. Ultimately what I am hoping for is to create Four 2x7 matrixes (independent...

Midi and Keyboard short cut assignments saving / importing

I am working on a DJ set and want to use the same template but experiment with different controller configurations. It would be great to be able to export the midi controller assignments as a separate file, that could then be later imported into the set. For example, the set is: DJ SET V.1.als Midi ...

Drum racks to trigger clips from session view

It would be incredible if instead of dropping samples into slots of a drum rack, you could assign clips / clip positions into the slots of the drum rack. Simple use case example DJ Set in Ableton, using 2 songs - A and B 4 tracks in session view track 1: audio clips for drum rack track 2: left turnt...

Scripting to edit Analysis files / sample parameters

I am prepping a DJ set in Ableton for the first time in years. It's a fresh reminder on how painfully laborious the process is. I'm taking a full track and creating 2 copies in session view, renaming copy 1 "Intro" and copy 2 "Drop". Then I am going into each and setting Intro to typically end at ba...

Wacom Tablet for Mouse Replacement

Hi everyone, I've got golfer's elbow (don't play golf) and have been experimenting with trackpads, trackballs, and am now trying to figure out if a wacom tablet will help if used as a mouse-replacement. Can people share their experience - if you can use Ableton with a tablet / pen (with the options....

Re: Help! How do you make a pitch riser that stays in key?

if one element's pitch rises like in the example you posted, it is most definitely not "staying in key". But that doesn't matter as long as that's the effect you're after. Certainly it might start and end at suitable notes in the key of the song (this is where the pitch bend range might come in han...

Re: Help! How do you make a pitch riser that stays in key?

Gave it a quick listen. That's not just a pitch rise it also sounds like a filter opening up revealing more spectral content. The pitch can increase in rough steps to stay in tune and the filter opens up smoothly giving the impression of overall smoothness imo. Depends what key your tack is in and ...

Re: Help! How do you make a pitch riser that stays in key?

If you are using a pitch bend (the most common technique,) it's all about setting the Pitch Bend Range [PB]. In Operator, it's next to Pitch (+5) in this image http://s7.postimg.org/a3a00sxkb/Screen_Shot_2015_06_03_at_8_50_06_PM.png For example, if you set the range to 12 semitones (st), and bend t...

Help! How do you make a pitch riser that stays in key?

I've heard some tracks where there's a lot going on melodically and one element does a pitch rise ---sometime it's a sustained notes, other times a pitched drum, other times even maybe melodies that are rising in pitch... All while staying in key. I've tried the usual pitch bend linear or concave / ...

Re: Help: How to convert acapella into robotic vocals

It would help to know what's wrong with your results. Post it up on soundcloud? You will get much more focused advice. Hmm... don't really use soundcloud. Here's the general technique: I'll use a saw and maybe mix in a little noise as the carrier, a sample or my voice as the modulator. I may compre...

Help: How to convert acapella into robotic vocals

Hey! Can anyone share any tips on how to convert an acapella (either short, or better yet - full length song) into robotic vocals? Note: after decades of playing electronic music, I've *still* never been able to make a vocoder sound good / clear. Yes, I've followed all the tutorials etc., tried coun...

Help: My Midi Controller Just Stops Triggering Live

Hi, I am having a weird problem in 8.2.6 Live. As I am writing my controller just stops working to trigger live. The little light next to the "D" (by the CPU use meter) lights up so it's getting signal, but it stops triggering any VSTs I have on a track. The main fix has been to quit live and restar...

Re: Redmatica Autosampler - worth it?

Just got Autosampler to work and can't get the routings such that it triggers midi from a VST hosted in Ableton. Here's my setup 1. IAC bus 2 activated 2. Autosampler is set to send on IAC bus 2 3. Ableton's Midi prefs have IAC Bus 2 signal turned on 4. Ableton's channel is set to receive midi from ...
