thanks everyone for your input. i ended up going the adapter route, just because it's easier overall.
on the plus side, i can now use an unpowered usb port, yay.

Re: Live powercycles my USB powered MIDI keyboard during startup
I did try other cables, as short as possible (30cm), but to no avail. an external power source solves the problem apparently, i just don't get why it's worked before and now doesn't that adapter is another piece of gear to carry around

Live powercycles my USB powered MIDI keyboard during startup
...therefore the keyboard is not recognized once the application has finished starting up (since it technically was connected only after Live has started).

Re: Is there a way to group process audio going to sends?

The group bus merges the incoming streams into a single stream, with no way to differentiate between substreams (and their sends levels) after the fact. I guess what would be needed to achieve what I'm afte...

Is there a way to group process audio going to sends?
Say I have two synth lines playing, each with a send delay on it. I group them, then filter them as a group. The delay will still receive the unfiltered signal. Any quick & easy way around that, while still using the sends and not inline fx?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: File browser, use colours!
I was thinking recently that when you're looking through your als files in the browser, it'd be nice if the track and clip colors were maintained. I've been getting a more refined color system over time, it's helpful. Yeah, I've started giving my files for DJing clip colors that represent their bas...

Not as easily changed, however.djwack wrote:Am I missing something here? Are we not essentially talking about a certain tremolo effect?
If so then I suggest using clip envelopes for manipulating the volume of the desired track, much simpler than many alternatives suggested here IMO..

NI should sue you for swindling an EDU version out of them when you (admittedly!!) weren't even eligible, then trying to sell that which you aren't allowed!!! naw man, just kidding. That sucks :( If Customer Support cannot help you with your problem, maybe you can reach them better through twitter, ...
