4GB RAM Laptop PC or memory sticks?
I've been doing some research, but I'm still uncertain on what to do. My 7 year-old laptop PC is on its last legs, partly because of Ableton's use of the RAM and hard drive (only 1GB of RAM with a 1.40 GHz processor). I've been shopping around for a laptop of at least 4GB, Ableton Live 8's minimum ...

Re: How Do I Distort Pitch AND Tempo?
Okay. I'm still not sure I'm doing it correctly. In re-pitch mode, anytime I change the pitch with that :2/*2 thing, it changes the pitch of my entire clip, as opposed to just one segment.
How do I go about creating this effect in (changing the pitch and tempo) in Sampler?

Re: Audio Dropouts - External Drive Necessary?
How do I freeze tracks? Is this the same as muting (clicking the track number so that it's no longer yellow)?

Audio Dropouts - External Drive Necessary?
I have a short song that, so far, has eleven midi tracks. Certain parts of the song play as it should, but the audio drops out during certain parts. I know about the meter at the top right of the window, and I know that this (the meter maxing out close to 100%) is happening because certain sounds ...

Re: Is this an example of "harmonics?"
Lets take the violin as an example.
The vibration of the violin's string can vibrate at many frequencies at the same time.
When the tension and lenght of the string are " just right", or in tune, bowing the string
sets it to vibrating at the standard A, which is defined at 440 vibrations per ...

Is this an example of "harmonics?"
This is something I've been wondering for years. When there's a deep enough sound (something like a man's voice, or a bass guitar), a faint tone can be heard as well, about half an octave higher or lower. What is this phenomenon called?

Audio Exporting Problem
Good evening. I am using Ableton Live 8, and I'm trying to export my music as WAV.
Just in case, I have screenshots of my file in the links:
