Re: High CPU despite few plug ins
You have 50-60 instruments in an instrument rack? 35-50% CPU sounds reasonable to me for such a large number of instruments. Also, everything on a single track will be used by a single core. Spreading your instruments on different channels could help.

Re: Are real analog synths warmer but retro-sounding ?
DSI filters generally have that saturated vintage feel, it's just the flavour they chose.
I have a Waldorf Pulse and that beast is analogue but sounds super modern.

Re: Black Friday 2012 here we go....
No offense taken, the waves installer is indeed a pain in the ass. The same can be said about a few other companies that require you to install a big software centre just to get one free plugin. I was forced to use wave's installer a few days ago when I bough the audio-midi no-brainer deal for 15$. ...

Re: Mac book Pro
For live performance I find it's enough. For production in the studio it can be a bit small, but you can always plug a bigger screen.
I love mine, just the right size to carry around everywhere.

Re: Where do I begin? Getting started with producing in Live
I find the instrument presets to be confusing if you want to learn about synthesis, too many are in racks within racks and it's complicated to explore when you don't know much. I would recommend playing with Analog and Sampler (or Simpler) first, explore those, learn the basics of synthesis and samp...

I am also pretty sure this would work. However, I would recommend getting a dedicated midi interface with good drivers like a MOTU to be sure everything is really tight.

Re: re up of live 9 video!!
I am just surprised in the years it has taken to develop Live 9 and all they came up with were updates to the fx. I would have loved to seen a new mixer, some additions to midi editing features maybe an update to the drum rack a new drum synth just a few ideas. The glue compressor looks useful but ...

Re: Dual monitors or 1 big one?
I have 2 monitors and use mainly Live for production. Even if Live doesn't "use two screens", the second screen is very useful for: - putting up plugins (Meters, Eqs, Compressors, Synths, etc) - that way they don't cover what is going on in Live - placing the video screen when syncing mus...
