Live in rewire mode and tempo/time signature map
I'm using Live as a rewire slave with Logic, and it seems to work well overall. When there are time signature changes in the Logic song, however, Live reacts in a strange way. If for example the song is in 4/4 but there are two bars of 3/4 in the middle, then LIve will show the whole timeline as 4/4...

Re: Do you like the Live Instruments?
live effects and synths cannot be compared with logic. I'm a long-time Logic user, and I have NI Komplete (5) also. When I got Ableton Live, the quality of its instruments was the thing that surprised me the most. Electric is phenomenal, Sampler is very easy to use, Analog and Collision are great. ...

Re: Exporting Stems for professional mixdown
Usually you would strip off all volume automation and print a complete set of dry tracks. If you have effects that you think will be useful to the mix engineer, you could print those separately (not the sends, but the outputs from the fx). "Stems" usually means submixes and not all the ind...

Re: Logic Studio 9 vs Ableton live 8 Suite
I'm a long-time Logic user, and relatively new to Live. I prefer Live in almost every respect except: -comping and take management -surround support -handling of SysEx and other esoteric MIDI event types -handling many tracks (i.e., CPU efficiency) Out of all of those, it is the handling of high tra...

Re: How to use Ableton on stage, as a rockband
It seems to be two radically different ways of doing this, either through the session-view or the arrangement view, and both have their pros and cons. In arrangement, you have the advantage of automation, and you get a more fixed timeline of your song, as for in session where it seems to be much ea...

Re: How to use Ableton on stage, as a rockband
Could you perhaps detail how you are doing this exactly? A screenshot would be much appreciated! Do you have one "track" for each song? Do you load several songs (and all their tracks) into the arrangement view, resulting in X amount of tracks, which is then automated to preserve CPU use?...

Re: How to use Ableton on stage, as a rockband
I'm in an electronic band, and we do something similar to what you are describing. I route my keyboards' audio outs into Ableton, and the lead vocal goes through a channel strip in Ableton also. So far the way I've done it is to use the arrangement timeline for backing tracks and for any programmed ...

Re: How do you save a selected part of a clip as a new clip?
Perhaps I've misunderstood what you want to do; but if you have a clip in the Arrange view, and you select a portion of it (by dragging and highlighting some part of it), you can use CMD-C and CMD-V to copy and paste that portion as a new clip into a session view clip. This works over multiple track...

a few, relatively minor, enhancement suggestions
Hi, There seems to be no cut/copy/paste operation between cells of an Impulse object. This would be really nice, as otherwise to change the impulse note associated with a cell, you have to copy the cell's parameters manually. When editing automation, if you click and drag a line segment (as opposed ...
